Christmas in January

Christmas in January is always fun right?

Well this Christmas was a ton of fun.  The boys are at the age where they're really starting to get into Santa.  They had a ton of questions about him and his elves this year.  And the best part was they weren't afraid of him when we went to go see him.  Although Logan made it pretty hard on Santa, he kept changing his mind on what he wanted.  When we wrote our letters to Santa Logan wanted a BIG dump truck and a new Cowboy shirt; Cody wanted a John Deere tractor.  But then I think they did a lesson on ice skating at Busy Bee's because he soon changed his mind and wanted ice skates.  Unfortunately Santa had already locked in on the Big Dump truck and Cowboy shirt so that's what he ended up getting.  He still asks for the ice skates and any time there's ice on the driveway or parking lot he starts twirling around and tells me how he's practicing his ice skating skills.

Another favorite this Christmas was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.   Logan and Cody would ask to watch Rudolph about 6 times a day.  While it's one of my favorite Christmas movies, after about the 839 time of watching it it's time for a change.  They were even asking to watch it well into the New Year.  I told them Rudolph was tired from helping Santa and needed to take a break, so now we're back to Bob the Builder and Go Diego Go.

Here's a few pictures from the Holidays.

These first few pictures are from when we went to visit Santa at Macy's 8th floor.  They always do a big display.  When I was little we used to go with my Grandpa and Grandma every year and the thing I remember most about going to see Santa was how LONG the wait was.  I remember standing in line for what felt like HOURS on end.  It might have only been an hour, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually HOURS and HOURS.  So when Christie mentioned she wanted to go there, we decided to head out first thing in the morning and get there as soon as it opened.  The boys are always up by 7 every day and the place opened at 8:30 so it worked out perfect!  There was NO line at all, we walked right up to the displays and took our time going through it.  The boys were in total awe and didn't say much the whole time.  Then we waiting only a min before getting into see Santa.  He was so great and chatted with the boys for a long time.  We're totally going as soon as it opens next year too.  We'll keep doing it until one of two things happen; either the boys are old enough to sit still in a line for an hour or so, or they sleep in longer and complain about getting up so early. :-)

Brian made the boys these bugs at school.  They have their names carved out of the wood.  They were so excited about them!  Hunting Monsters is way better with these guns!

Here's to 2012

Here's to 2012!

2011 was not very kind to Meyer Ranch, but we survived and are ready for 2012!  There are already good things in the works for 2012 and I know it's going to be a great year!

I forgot my camera today so I won't have any pictures to share, but I've got a funny story and some good news!

First the good news!  Cody's wearing underwear!  We've been half-heartily potty training Cody for a few months now, but haven't really been pushing it or trying.  But over the Holiday break he requested to wear underwear so I figured since we were home and had the time why not give it a shot again. A real shot, with timers and treats and everything.  He's been doing great!  He's had two accidents in the last week and even made it through a nap with his underwear on!  He's very excited to go back to Busy Bee's today and tell his friends he has on Big Boy underwear.  I'm so proud of him!  One of the struggles we have been having is every time Cody goes and gets a treat, Logan thinks he deserves a treat as well.  It's been hard for Logan to understand that it's Cody's accomplishment and not his.  He's totally supportive of his brother, but thinks
his payment for cheerleading should be a treat as well.

The other funny story I have is a Logan story.  He's such a lover and constantly telling me that he's going to make me a heart at Busy Bee's or that he's going to buy me a pretty dress or jewelry.  The other night when I was tucking him into bed this was our conversation:

Me: Goodnight Logie Bear.  I love you.

Logan: Mom don't call me Logie Bear or Logan any more.  I want you to call me Sweetheart Honey from now until forever.

Me [Chuckling]: Sweetheart Honey huh?  Alright, Good night Sweetheart Honey.  I love you.

There's been a few times where I've called him 'Logie Bear' and he's reminded me to call him 'Sweetheart Honey' instead.  I cannot wait until the day he's 13 and walking into the school with all his friends and I can yell from the car, "Good bye Sweetheart Honey!  I Love you!"  He's going to be so embarrassed and I can pull up this post and remind him how he requested I call him that from now until forever! :-)

Wii Bowling

Logan recently rediscovered the Wii and asks to play it every now and then.  He really likes Wii bowling and Wii baseball.  Brian and him were playing the other day...see the scores below for results...those are legit scores by the way.  Brian did not let him win.  Seems we might have an athlete on our hands...if you consider bowling a sport that is...  ;-)

Let it Snow!

Photobucket

Remember when we had all this snow?!?   Logan was super excited when it finally snowed and could not wait to go outside and play in it.  The boys played outside for over an hour, luckily it wasn't too cold, and the only reason they came in was cause it was getting dark out.  Logan's favorite part of the snow was making snow angels!  Well that and Mom pulling him around in the sled.

Logan really wanted to make a snow man, but that particular snow fall was not the snowman-making kind.  He's been waiting not-so patiently for the next snow fall and has informed me that we'll be making a snowman when it happens.  He said our snowman will have a carrot for a nose and coal for his eyes.  Note to self: go to the store and buy carrots in case it snows.

How to Build a Couch Blind

Logan and Cody LOVE to build Blinds and pretend to hunt things!  The other day Logan was working on building a blind with the couch cushions.  As you can see his brother was a HUGE help!  He did pretty well if you ask me.

A few weeks ago Brian had built a blind and the boys were hiding out in it calling to the ducks.  Brian threw a paper air plane by the blind and the boys would shoot them out of the 'sky' and then hurry out of the blind and find their 'ducks'.  It was pretty cute and the boys just LOVED it and thought it was super cool.

Brian definitely has a couple of hunters on his hands.  They get so excited when they get to wear their hunting clothes and pretend hunt with daddy.  I can only imagine when they can really hunt with their father.  Logan asked the other day if he could go to 'Norf Dakota' with Daddy hunting.  :-) Then Mom will be in Heaven cause I'll have the house to myself!!

New Years Resolution Early

My New Year's Resolution is to take more pictures and blog more.  I know I've said this a MILLION times before, but I've been looking back at the blog recently and really miss documenting my children as they grow.  Since I had a little time on my hands now I figured I'd get started!  You might see a few old pictures/videos from the last few months, but the kids are still cute and funny so I'm sure you'll be OK with it.  I'm planning on getting a new camera soon so hopefully the videos won't be so dark and the pictures will be better quality.

I know that this video is pretty old, but I came across it the other day and thought I'd share it.  It's from October on a really really warm night.  The boys thought it was the coolest thing to help Daddy wash his truck with their shirts off.  They are such little helpers!  They're usually always ready to help you with something, even when you'd rather they just watch or go play.  Logan and I were making cookies the other day and he turns to me and says, "Thank you sooo much Mom for letting me help you make cookies".  It just melts my heart...

Wrestling Drills

Logan really likes to wrestle and one night no one wanted to wrestle with him, so I told him to ask Daddy to show him some wrestling drills that he could do by himself if he wanted to wrestle. While this got Dads attention and got him right off the chair and into 'coach' mode! :-) It's pretty funny watching him teach Logan some moves and Logan just LOVES it! Oh and if you're wondering what Cody was doing during all this you'll have to watch until the end to find out...trouble maker...

NOTE: I apologize for the video being so dark
