She's Country

First things first...no Oscar yet...but here are some 37 week pictures we took last week.

Weekend in review:

Friday: Jason Aldean concert!

Friday night was the Jason Aldean concert at the Minnesota State Fair. The best of two worlds: Fair Food and Country Music. The concert was AWESOME! Jason Aldean's voice is so great, he's one of my favorite Country singers. And on top of that I got a great new food chopper to make spaghetti sauce with!

Saturday: Logan and I made spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce with my new chopper which worked awesome! Brian had a friends bachelor party that started at 12. He was home by 9 and said that most of the guys were finished...can't imagine why since they started at noon...

Sunday: Brian and I made some grape jelly, dug up the potatoes from the garden, and cleaned, vacuumed and washed all three cars.

So all-in-all a productive weekend. Next weekend I told Brian I'm taking a whole day and just hanging out with Logan and relaxing. I was so tired by the end of the day yesterday.

A few pictures of Logan and his "Big Green Tractor".

And lastly a cute little video of Logan.

Serenity on the Ranch

This was the view from our front porch last night. Have I told you lately how much I love living on the ranch?

I also am very excited that the Minnesota State Fair starts today. I love the fair and all the super delicious very bad for you deep fried food! Pronto Pups are a must have at the fair. My aunt Denise runs a Pronto Pup stand and this year my Mom is working at the stand all 12 days of the fair. Their Pronto Pup stand is right outside the Mighty Midway on the corner of Liggett St. and Carnes Ave. (No I did not make that street name up, that's what it's called.) It's next to the beer building. So please stop by and say hi. My mom is the cute Blondie. I think we're going next Saturday the 5th to the fair...we're going to see if we can walk Oscar out of me...wish me luck... :-)

Salsa

I did it! I made 10 pints of homemade salsa last night! (Well Sherri and I did, thanks for the help Shutterbug!) For those of you that don't know, I've been super excited all summer long to make my own salsa. I really wanted to last summer, but didn't get enough tomatoes from the garden to actually make salsa. This year I went a little over board to over compensate for the lack of tomatoes last year and have more tomatoes then I know what to do with. Which if you ask me is still a way better problem to deal with than not enough tomatoes. So I tried my hand at making salsa last night and it turned out great! I have another recipe for salsa that I'm going to try in a week or so once more tomatoes are ripe and I'm also going to try spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce as well! The only thing that sucked about making salsa last night is my hands are still burning from cutting up the jalapeno peppers. Someone once told me, "Wear gloves when you chop the hot peppers" and I thought they were just wimps or crazy...well let me tell you they are NOT. It burns! So live and learn I guess, but I won't make that same mistake twice.

Logie's doing great at the new daycare. Last night however he did get another bout of bad diaper rash. I really think it's from all the fresh fruits and veggies he eats at the ranch. We've got grape vines growing in the trees at our house and they are super sweet and delicious! Logan goes crazy for them and was eating about 2 -3 apples a day for a while, but we're trying to cut back on that. Plus sweet corn almost every night for dinner (which is another thing he goes crazy for). I think it's just a little too much for his little digestive system. Who knows though, we'll just have to try a few things with his diet and see if it helps. I would rather have the problem of him eating too much/many fruits and veggies than not enough though.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Stella's 2nd Birthday Party

This Saturday was Stella's 2nd birthday party. Debbie and Mike had it at a park in Stillwater and couldn't have asked for a better day! It was a gorgeous day and the park was beautiful; very well kept and maintained. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Birthday girl!

She really liked her cake.

The park had this bouncy thing to play on. You sit on either side and bounce up and down. Daddy was on the other side from us.

Logan and Stella on the bounce thing.

I love this thing!

Daddy and Logan

Bob, Carey and the girls on the swings.

All the cousins. Not a super great picture, but they're at least all there. It's extremely hard to get them all to look in one direction at the same time...no idea how Janelle did it...

Then Sunday Kim, Sherri, Keri and I had a girls day. We went golfing, out to lunch, and then got pedicures and manicures. It was a belated birthday present for Kim (her birthday is in June.) So Daddy and Logan got to hang out all day and had a blast on the 4-wheeler and the lawn mower.

Logan started his new daycare this morning. He didn't really like getting up at 6:30 am compared to the 7:30 - 8 wake up time he's been used to most of the summer. But with Brian going back to school on Thursday it's time he got back into the routine of the school year. This week might be rough for him, but early to bed, early to rise right? We'll see...

A few pictures of Logan with daddy's hunting socks on. He pulled these out of the drawer while I was folding laundry and put them on himself.

"Mom check out my cool hunting socks!"

"I am super hunter! Bucks cower at the sound of my name!"

Cousins

Janelle took this picture a couple weeks ago. She was watching all four of them the day after Weston was born, so he's the only one missing from the picture...well and I guess Oscar too.

Aren't they so cute though! I love this picture!

36 Weeks and no signs of labor

I had my 36 week appointment this morning and everything looks great. Unfortunately unlike the other 3 pregnant mom's that gave birth this summer, the doctor said and I quote, "No signs of you going within the next two weeks or anything." So as of now it doesn't look like I'll be going early or anything. Of course that can all change lickety split if Oscar decides that he wants to come. I'm not really holding my breath though, I think it will be closer to my due date. But we're at the point where I get to go into the doctor every week now, so I'll be able to keep you posted on my progress. To be honest it kind of sucks when you're at this point cause I think going in every week and having them check you is a big waste of time, especially if everything has gone great up until this point. I'd rather just go every two weeks or even better just go when I think I'm in labor...but I'll be a good patient and go every week only to have them tell me, "There's no change in your cervix. See ya next week."

Nothing

I thought maybe I'd give you an update of things happening around the ranch lately, but when I stopped and thought about the things happening at the ranch I realized nothing's really happening...

Last weekend was very low key. Brian and I worked in the garden all morning and afternoon, pulling weeds and harvesting the last of some of our plants. For those of you that I've complained to this summer because I was getting no green beans that problem has now been rectified. Turns out I accidentally planted pole beans, not bush beans, and pole beans (as the name suggests) like to grow on poles and get very long and viney. Well I didn't realize I had pole beans and therefore did not put up poles for them to grow on. So instead I have the worlds biggest ball of intertwined bean mess on my hands...but alas they did finally produce beans. In fact they produced more beans then I know what to do with. I picked about a 5 gallon bucket full on Saturday, and by Saturday night I had completely broken out in a rash all over my arms and my feet where I had stepped into the beans. I guess I'm allergic to the bean plants or something on the plants really irritates my skin cause my arms are still red and splotchy and itchy. Long story short these bean plants have really been driving me crazy all summer long...but I think I won the battle cause I got more beans in the freezer than I'll be able to eat in a year...since I'm the only one in the Meyer house that likes green beans. Oh well, maybe Oscar will like them and next year no pole beans.

Sunday we also processed a 5 gallon bucket of carrots and chopped about 30 cups of onions. My finger nails still smell like onions...yummy! But as you can tell by my very exciting post on green beans and onions, nothing's really happening at the ranch.

4 more weeks until Oscar is here!

Camp Croix 2009

Just a bunch of random shots from Camp Croix 2009

My cousin Tracie brought this car up for her son Linkin who's a year old. But of course it was Logan's favorite thing to play with all weekend long. He even took it bahaing through the water!

Brian taking a mid-day snooze listening to the Twins game.

Aunt Trudy testing out Linkin's car as well!

Steven and the duck....I don't want to know....

Our little fish.

Playing Apples to Apples

Everyone eating dinner.

This is a shot of our home base. As you can see it's quite the camp site. After going to camp for 25+ years we've got this down to a science, complete with our own nacho machine and everything!

Everyone chilaxin' by the camp fire.

I love this picture!

Daddy and Logan playin' in the water.

If that's not the face of trouble I don't know what is!

Workin' on building a sand castle.

Mom even helped.

Logan our little bucket head. (Not sure why he likes to do this...I think he likes the sound his voice makes when it echos off the sides of the bucket....he get's that from his father... :-) )

Don't let them fool you...Logan did all the work.

Fun in the Sun.

I'll have my bacon crispy please!

My brothers were playing all kinds of games on my parents that weekend. This night they duct taped them in their cabin and set a booby trap for them. I wish I could have seen my dad trying to get out of this mess!

Before the trapping started...

Hi Kim!

A new game we played at camp called Head Bandz...kind of dumb actually...

Mitchell's birthday celebration!

Welcome Home!

Here's a few videos. This one is of Logan at the beach. We never had super hot weather up at camp (I was very thankful for that!), so after going in the water it was a bit chilly. But Logan did not want to be wrapped up in his towel, instead he just wanted to sit in his car and shiver...It's hard to tell that's what he's doing in the video, but he was just shaking...his purple lips are a dead give-away that he's cold.

Logan's other favorite thing to do at camp...well besides driving Linkin's car and playing in the water...playing in the sand!

Cows On the Ranch

Brian's been working so hard lately to get the fence around the pasture so that some friends of ours could pasture their cows here for a couple months. And finally last night when I got home there were cows on the ranch! Brian (with the help of some friends) finished the fence and brought the cows over. Logan didn't really like them at first, but now loves to watch them. We're working on "What does a cow say" He does like to moo though when we start mooing. It's so funny!!

Camp Croix pictures still to come...you can't really blame me since between Shutterbug and Kim there are 248 pictures to choose from! I'll try to sort through them and post an assortment this weekend.

Also I wanted to wish Debbie and Stella a Happy Belated Birthday on the 6th of August! Sorry I didn't have a lot of time to search for a good picture...this was the first one I found... Happy Birthday though!
