Brewmaster

Before I left on maternity leave the project at work that I've been on for the last year and a half was just about ready to ship. (Meaning the software is ready to go to the customers.) They managed to finish the software successfully without me...although I'm not sure how they managed...[wink, wink] :-) So last Friday the team had our celebration event for finishing the software. The entire team went to the Vine Park Brewery and got to brew their own beer. It was pretty fun and it was Logan's first trip to a brewery! There are some pictures here of my team members and of course of Logan and mom in the brewery. We get to go back in a couple weeks to bottle and taste our beer. I'm looking forward to it, I've never brewed my own beer before...I hope it's good!

Also last Friday when I got home from the brewery, I got a call from my mom. Here's how it went:

Mom: Hi, are you busy?
Me: No, not really.
Mom: Do you have company?
Me: Brian's cousin Brad is coming over, and Dan is here, but other than that no.
Mom: Oh, cause your Dad and I were missing someone and wanted to stop over.
Me: Oh, you miss Logan. Sure you can stop over.
Mom: No we miss you! But if we happen to see Logan too that's ok.
Me: [Laugh] Sure you miss me...right. That's fine though stop over.
Mom: Ok, see ya in a bit.

Needless to say Grandpa and Grandma Steffen LOVE Logan! Here's some pics of grandma and Logan. Logan loves grandma too, Dan's convinced Logan won't cry if Grandma Steffen is around. If that's true then Mom you might need to move in.... :-)

Uncle Dan

Brian's cousin Brad came into town Friday night to turkey hunt with Brian and Dan on Saturday. Friday night they went to the bar for a little bit and this was the result...

He could wake the dead I think...

It's been a big week for Logan. Thursday he had his first babysitter. Mom and Dad had to meet with their financial adviser so Sherri watched Logan for about an hour. He was good for Sherri, but then again he loves Sherri. Thanks so much Shutterbug and it's kind of boring around here now that you've left.

Then on Friday mom started pumping for the first time and Logan got his first bottle. Pumping is going well, but I'm a little confused. Once I started pumping I realized that Logan was probably only eating about 2-2.5 oz at a time and that's why he's eating every two hours and sometimes less than every two hours. But we're working through it. He took the bottle great and hasn't gotten confused between the bottle and mom so that's good.

Then Saturday since I started pumping and had some milk in the fridge, Debbie and Mom went shopping for about 4 hours. It was the longest time I have been away from Logan since he was born. It was good for both of us, but Mom did miss him...as for Logan I don't think he even knew I was gone...but that's ok. It's nice that I'm pumping now cause Brian said he would start getting up with Logan sometimes during the weekends so that I can get some sleep. It will be weird to get more than two-three hours of sleep at a time. I'll probably wake up at the three hour mark anyways thinking that I need to feed him....on second though probably not...

Tonight is the first night of co-ed softball. It's only about 42 degrees outside so it's going to be cold. Logan is coming with Nicole Brown is going to watch him while mom and dad are playing. Mom said it was too cold to bring Logan, but dad said he'll be fine, so we'll see. We'll probably back the Explorer up to the game and see if Nicole wants to watch the game from the car. Then "brother" Connor could watch a dvd if he wanted...

Is the draft over yet...I'm so sick of watching draft coverage...

Diaper Rash

Yesterday we had to take Logan to the doctor. He's had a diaper rash off and on since he's been born. I tried a bunch of different things, switching wipes, letting it air out more, switching diapers and nothing seemed to be helping. And then the last two days it had gotten a lot worse. His skin had broken open and it had even started bleeding. I called the nurses line to ask what else I should try and she said that it might be a bacterial infection so I should bring him in to have it looked at. What surprised me most about the visit is the doctor said we brought him in at the perfect time and that she's seen much worse diaper rashes. I was dumbfounded. I just couldn't believe people would let a diaper rash get worse than that? I felt so bad for him and thought his was super bad I couldn't imagine a worse diaper rash. But we filled the rx for the cream and it's looking way better today. Once we get it cleared up we'll have to make sure we figure out how to prevent it from coming back. Poor little guy...

This week Auntie Sherri is staying with us and it's been super fun! We haven't done anything too exciting, we went shopping yesterday and got a baptism outfit for Logan. Sherri helped mom clean the house today!! Thank you so much Sherri!! You're the best! It's been nice having someone else to help with Logan when he gets a little fussy or just hold him when he's awake and happy but doesn't want to get put down. Plus it's been very nice just hanging out with Sherri. We haven't done that in a while and it's been fun catching up!

This morning we "had a melt down" according to Dad...but it's completely different then Mom's definition of a "melt down". Here's what happened. It was 7 and Dad was getting up for work. Mom asked Dad to change Logan's diaper and bring him back to me and I'd finish feeding him (praying that by feeding him he'd go back to sleep for another hour or so.) Dad took Logan out of the room and Mom went back to sleep. The next thing Mom here's is "Mom we've had a melt down." So I get up to find out what this "melt down" was since I hadn't heard Logan crying and a "melt down" in Mom's world has a LOT of crying in it. Once I got into the living room, Brian's standing over the changing table and Logan's as happy as a pig in poop...mainly because he was laying in poop. Dad was letting Logan's butt air out a little (due to the diaper rash) and of course while letting him air out Pee Pants started to pee. So Dad took the diaper and tried to stop the pee from going all over the place, but once he moved the diaper Logan started to poop and this is the magical part, the poop went not just on the changing table but it looped up and landed on Logan's chest and side and even shot out onto the wall. It was actually kind of funny once we got everything cleaned up. We undressed Logan and Dad just took him into the shower with him. So it turned out that Logan got his first shower with Dad this morning (don't worry it was not hot water). Anyways...that's Dad's definition of a "melt down".

Hope all is well with everyone!

First big trip was a success!

Well Logan survived his first trip away from home with flying colors! He did great! He slept the whole way there and pretty much the entire day Friday, which had mom worried he wouldn't sleep Friday night, but he slept great! Then Saturday we got up and went with Sherri to get her hair done and hung out at the church while they got ready and took pictures. He slept through the ceremony which was good and only really cried a couple times at the church. Then we went to the reception and I have to say Logan was the hit of the party. Everyone thought he was so cute and the bride's grandma just LOVED him. She was walking around showing him off to everyone, which was very funny since we didn't know a single person at the wedding except for Sherri. So Grandma was just showing off some stranger's kid...but it was cute! He slept great Saturday night again and then Sunday morning we headed home. There was a LOT of driving this weekend though. The wedding ceremony was in Sheldon, the reception was in Gilman which is a half hour from Sheldon and the hotel was in Thorp which is a half hour from Gilman and an hour from Sheldon, plus Thorp is two hours away from Osceola. But I think all the driving helped with Logan's sleeping a lot since he always sleeps in the car. Then Sunday after the two hour drive home we had two showers to go to, a baby shower for my friend Kristi and a bridal shower for my cousin's fiance. So more car seat time on Sunday...poor boy. I promised him we wouldn't go anywhere today so that he wouldn't have to go into the car seat. But tomorrow we're going to go visit my friends Kristin and Cory who had a baby boy on Sunday. Trenton James Thompson 7 lbs 8 oz 21 in long!! We're so excited!!

Daddy's weekend was good too. I will stand corrected Dad's softball team is 3-1 right now! Brian finished tiling the shower this weekend, so now all he has to do is grout it and we'll be able to use it! He said by this weekend it should be ready! How exciting!! He also worked outside on Sunday, see the pictures of him in the tree. He climbed up there to yank a bunch of vines out of the birch tree...hillbilly...

Auntie Christie, look at me in my Pooh outfit you bought me and the cute baby Uggs! Although I'm sorry but I didn't really like the baby Uggs. When mom put them on me they went almost to my knees and I would not bend my legs. Seriously he keep his legs as straight as possible while he had the Uggs on, once I took them off he was fine. So I'm sorry Chris, but at least we got one pictures with them on!

First Big Trip

Well this weekend Logan and Mom are taking our first big trip away from home. We're going with Auntie Sherri to a wedding in Thorp, WI. We're leaving Friday morning at 11 and won't be home until Sunday. I'm very nervous to see how this goes. Logan has been kind of fussy lately. Mostly gas pains I believe (Mom needs to do a better job watching what she eats and how it affects Logan) but I'm not 100% sure it's gas. My luck he'll start screaming in the middle of the wedding. We'll sit in the back though so mom can make a quick escape if he does. I'm not worried about the car ride, as he sleeps the entire time he's in the car. But we'll see how the rest of the trip goes. Wish us luck! I'll take some pictures this weekend and we'll let you know how it went on Monday.

Brian will be home all weekend working on the driveway (moving it over a little and making the new driveway down to the sheds) Mom's secretly hoping he'll be able to get the shower done as well, but completely understands if he can't. It's suppose to be nice here this weekend. It was warm here on Tuesday, but was so extremely windy that I still didn't want to take Logan out. We're looking forward to the day when it's nice and we can go to one of Dad's softball games. Dad's team is 1-1 so far and has a game tonight, but it's kind of cold to take Logan out for the entire game. I can't wait until it's 70 here....and not a wind storm...but it is Wisconsin after all so it will go from 45 and freezing to 87 and blazing hot before we know it...it's just how it works here...

Once step closer to being completely downstairs

We're one step closer to being completely moved downstairs. Saturday we put together the closet organizers. They look great and I did get all my clothes in them so that's good. I actually even have room for a few more clothes, so I guess this means I need to go shopping! :-) Dad worked on the tile quite a bit on Friday night and has one maybe two nights of work left before the shower will be done. Then he can put in the toilet and we'll be all moved downstairs!! How exciting!! Special thanks to Sherri and Heather for coming over Saturday and hanging out. Sorry we put you to work, but that's generally what happens when you come over anyways. Thanks though it was fun!

Today has been a relaxing day so far. Mom made some cookies and dad is working outside. The Twins lost though so that's a bummer...

Logan's doing good. Getting bigger by the day. We no longer fit into the Pamper Swaddler newborn diapers, but we still fit into the Huggies newborn diapers. Uncle Steven we tried on one of the outfits you gave us for Christmas, but they're still too big. Soon though I'll fit into them.

And here is the buck grunt video. I finally got it to upload! Enjoy!

Buck Grunt

I haven't posted in a while...mainly cause not much has happened at the Meyer Ranch. Here's a quick review of our week so far.

Sunday
The family made the long trip to IKEA to get closet organizers. The trip was wildly successful. We found three closet organizers and all the cool different options you could want in a closet organizer for only $773. Dad hasn't had time to put them up yet, but at least they're here. Then we just hung out at home and had a little family time. We hung some of our pictures on the walls so it's really starting to look like home again. It was kind of like Christmas here, I had forgotten some of the pictures we had and was very excited to see them again.

Monday
Mom and Logan hung out at home and recovered from the weekend, taking a couple naps and just doing little odds and ins around the house. Dad had softball practice and then tech club after that so he didn't get home until close to 9.

Tuesday
Logan and Mom visited with Grandpa Steffen in the afternoon. Then we made the trip to Walmart and picked up some things for the house...nothing too exciting. I did finally get a cookie jar though, so Mikey will not be disappointed in me the next time I make cookies. Dad had his first softball game of the season that night. Unfortunately they lost, but it is the first game so I'm sure they'll turn it around before the season's over.

Wednesday
Logan and Mom just hung out at home. Dad brought the rest of the boxes upstairs for us so Mom finally went through them. Mostly books and picture frames. Then when Dad got home from practice he declared Wednesday nights family nights from now on so we just hung out as a family and watched the Twins game.

Not much going on today, but tomorrow we're going to go hang out with Aunt Debbie and cousin Stella for the afternoon. It will be nice to get out of the house and have a change of scenery for a while.

So you might be wondering about the title for this post. While there are two names Mom likes to call Logan and "Buck Grunt" is one of them. You've heard of babies crying themselves to sleep...well Logan grunts himself to sleep. The following video gives you just a taste of the grunting he does. His is a play-by-play of our late night feedings. Logan grunts around in his bassinet to wake Mom up. Mom picks him up and takes him out to the living room to change his diaper so we don't wake Dad up. Then mom feeds Logan. After Logan's belly is full mom wraps him up in a blanket and Mom rocks Logan until he's asleep. Once Logan is sleeping Mom carries him back into our room and puts him in his bassinet again. Then as soon as mom gets back into bed and gets comfortable, Logan starts grunting. He's not trying to poop or get farts out, he's just grunting for the sake of grunting. It's actually kind of funny, but it's hard to find the humor sometimes at 2:30 in the morning. He'll usually grunt around for about 5 min and then fall back to sleep. So the video below I took during the day to give you just a taste of the grunting he does. At the end of the video he starts crying...this usually doesn't happen in the middle of the night, but sometimes it does...

The other name Mom calls Logan is "Pee Pants". And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why I call him that...he hasn't gotten mom in the face yet, but he has watered the plants that are near his changing table and we sometimes go through three outfits a day because of old pee pants...

You might also be wondering about the pictures of Logan in the laundry basket. This is where Logan gets to hang out when Mom takes a shower in the mornings. Mom turns on the fan in the bathroom and Logan just looks around while Mom showers. I figured the laundry basket was better then just setting him on the bathroom floor.

Ok, this is what I wanted to post yesterday, but needed to upload the video...for some reason it's not working...I'll try to upload it on Saturday and post it then...sorry...

We're Moving!

Yes you read correctly we're moving...downstairs! And actually we already did. Today Brian and Mikey picked up our new bedroom set and moved the bed downstairs. The bathroom isn't done yet (although it's come along way) and our clothes are still up-stairs, but the bed is downstairs and so we'll be sleeping downstairs from now on. It's kind of weird but feels good. I just can't wait until the bathroom is done and I know Brian can't wait either...he's ready to be done working on the house for a while I think.

Today we also gave Logan his first real bath. Cousin Stella was over so they ended up taking a bath together (I know weird, but their only 8 months and 17 days...get over it) He screamed at first, but then started to enjoy it. He didn't like getting out cause that was very cold, but I think he enjoyed the bath. Of course once Mom was getting him dressed and got out the lotion he started screaming bloody murder again...he really really doesn't like lotion. Then this afternoon we all went for a walk down the road since it was so nice out today.

As for the rest of the night...Dads off to a bachelor party and mom and Logan are just hanging out at home. There are also some pictures on here of Logan hanging out with Dad on the couch. Logan was kind of fussy that night to Dad thought it would be a good idea to dip Logan's Nuk in his ice cream and then give it to Logan. Logan LOVED the ice cream, but Mom was a little leery of give Logan even that little bit of ice cream. Mom's a little over the top right now...I blame it on the lack of sleep...

Waking up is hard to do

I know the song is "breaking up is hard to do"...but with Logan waking up is also hard to do... Here's some video of him waking up and a few more pictures. Nothing new today...just mom and Logan hanging out at home cleaning up and napping...
