Bath Time Fun

Logan just LOVES his baths! He kicks and kicks in the water just splashing around. Of course mom gets soaking wet too, but I don't mind. It's just so fun to watch him get all excited. Hope you enjoy!

Porch Hounds

Brian finished the porch this week. Doesn't it look great! I think it dramatically changes the face of the house! I LOVE IT! Good job Babe!

Crawlin' Boy

I apologize for not posting for a while. I can't give my friends [I won't name names...Nicole] crap about not posting on their blogs if I don't post more often myself, so I'll make a point to work on that.

Yes it's official Logan is crawling. He's still really slow at it most of the time unless he really wants something in which case he picks up the pace. Sunday he started to figure out how to move his arms along with his legs. He still cheats sometimes and goes down on his belly and reaches for stuff, but he's really getting the hang of it. He was hanging out on the living room floor last night while Brian and I were eating dinner and we watched him crawl over to the lamp and start pulling on the cord. Of course we got up and picked him up, but we're going to have to start watching him like a hawk or putting him in his playpen or he's going to be every where...as I'm sure all the fellow moms with crawling babies can identify with. :-)

Here are a few videos of Logan getting around.

Daycare is going great! Logan just loves Nicole and Connor (and Ben). He's done great the last two days, just hanging out with Connor watching him play. It won't be long and Logan will be able to play right along with Connor.

Things happening at the ranch...

Brian had an interesting Sunday...he decided to take his boat and the dogs to the river for a little while. Just to throw the dummies for the dogs and relax. He got to the river, cranked the boat up and headed down river. He got about 15 min. down river and decided to stop and throw the decoy for the dogs. He was up on the shore throwing the decoy into the water so Ruger could work on marking and fetching. Well he had thrown the decoy into the river a pretty long way for Ruger to go get, but of course Tank thought he could go too. So Brian ran down the bank of the river to stop Tank from going after Ruger cause it was just too far out into the water for Tank, but when he got into the water it was really slimy and mucky and he slipped. Well there also happened to be a bunch of muscles and shells there as well so when he slipped he cut his foot wide open. He's got two cuts about 3 inches long on the bottom of his foot. So he decided to get back into the boat and head back. Well he quickly discovered it be a long walk back to the landing...his boat motor wouldn't start. So with a cut foot and two dogs he starts to pull his boat back to the landing. The river is really low so he could walk pretty much all the way, but there was a spot half way back where he had to get in the boat and start rowing. He had an emergency boat paddle with a duck retriever on the end of it in the boat. Well of course the paddle snaps in two. So he dives into the water to get the other half of the boat paddle cause he's pissed and he wants to take it back to Fleet Farm and say, "Here take your piece of sh!t boat paddle and shove it where the sun don't shine." But he doesn't discover until he's back at the landing that the $250 dog collar controller fell into the river when dove into get the paddle. So his little relaxing trip to the river ended up costing us about $500 by the time we replaced the dog controller ($239) and the boat motor (~$200 + tax). The best part is he left to go to the river at 3:55 and I got home about 4:05. If he would have waited 10 more min. he probably wouldn't have even gone to the river. Oh well....bad days happen I guess. When the world gives you lemons....His foot is going better now, but it's a really hard injury to heal. He got up Monday morning to go feed Logan and tore the scabs that had formed that night wide open again. But don't think that stopped him from bowling Monday night....and beating me unfortunately...

Well Brian and I are officially bowlers now. Last night we bought ourselves balls, shoes and bags. Now the only thing left is to find out how good of bowlers we're going to be. League starts Sept. 8th. We're not bowling the first night we're just going to go with and watch to see how it's done. Obviously we know how to bowl, but it will be good to see how the league operates and everything. I'm looking forward to it, the only thing that I know I'm going to hate is the smoke. We went in this Monday for the league meeting and free bowling afterward, there were two people in the bowling alley smoking and I had the worst headache after. I'm going to be in serious trouble when the the lanes are filled with people puffing away...

I thought I would throw on a few misc pictures from Camp. Most of them of course are of Logan, but a few extras....

Do you think they look alike now?

Don't ask....

Locked out

Listen to this....it's so funny

So tonight Brian, Logan and I headed over to Kristin and Cory Thompson's house for dinner and to hang out with Trenton. Nicole, Ben and Connor Brown came too. After we ate, right before we were getting ready to head home everyone went outside to the deck and were just hanging out. Kristin and Cory have a deck off their kitchen. The deck is two stories up and doesn't have any stairs to get down to the ground. So we're all hanging out talking and watching Chase (their dog) do laps around the furniture on the deck, when all of a sudden Connor decides to go in the house. The next thing we know he's waving at us from inside the house, points to the door handle and says, "Mom open it." Nicole tries to open the door and it's locked. Connor locked the door to the deck from inside the house! All five adults (Ben wasn't able to make it), Logan, Trenton, and Chase were locked on the deck two stories up with no way down. Connor thought he was the coolest kid ever and had free rein of the house. We were all laughing telling Connor to unlock the door...but what does he do...laughs back and then runs away laughing and waving. As soon as we realized we were locked out Brian jumped over the edge of the deck and went around and let us in so it wasn't anything too major, but it was still hilarious! When Brian got into the house Connor was in Trenton's room just laughing. It was totally something that happens on sitcoms, except of course they don't have BMeyer who just takes care of the situation. In the sitcom they would have been stuck up on the deck for hours...that's why we love BMeyer! He's a problem solver!

Anyways I just had to share that. Have a great night!

Summer coming to a close

I can't believe summer is coming to a close already. This is Brian's last week home with Logan. Next week he's going into school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to prep for the school year to start. Nicole will be watching Logan so it's really his first days at daycare. The summer just FLEW by! Brian had a list as long as my arm of things to finish up around the house, he's gotten more done in the last 4 days than he has all summer long. The upstairs is completely done now and Kim he even cleaned up and organized our scrapbook room! :-) He's planning on cranking out the rest of the house stuff before next week. Then the full swing of school will start and along with that the full time working Mom and Dad routine. :-(

Here are a few pictures of the Twins game on Saturday. Auntie gave Logan his first lollipop at the game. He really liked it.

As you can tell Logan gets very bored during the games and always manages to sneak in a nap!

It was a really good game and the Twins ended up winning in the 9th inning. Logan and I had to whip out the rally caps...

Sunday Kim and Great Grandma Steffen came over to help Nicole Brown and I learn how to make applesauce and freeze corn. Ben and Brian helped a lot too! It was a lot of fun. I meant to take pictures of us elbow deep in apples and corn, but forgot. I know it's totally 1938 to be excited about freezing corn and learning to can applesauce but I'm totally pumped about it. I think it's cool that we are taking advantage of the things we have, I'm not totally convinced that it's actually saving us any money (especially since it takes a lot more time to do those things) but it's fun and it's something we can do as a family. Plus there's a certain amount of satisfaction that comes with knowing you grew the food you're eating yourself.

Happy 5 Month Birthday Logan! Today Logan is 5 months old. It's hard for me to remember what our lives were like before Logan was born or how we really even survived without him. He fills our lives with such joy, excitement, adventure and happiness! Brian I wanted to say again how amazing you are! You're a wonderful father and the best husband a wife could ask for! I know Logan's already learned so much from you. He just lights up when you walk into the room, he loves you so much. I know he's going to want to do everything his daddy does and I can't wait to watch the two of you working in the yard or you teaching him everything you know. Here's a quick video of Logan and his daddy. And the picture after I took tonight. You can see we have a hard time getting Logan to stop moving. He's just constantly kicking his legs and waving his arms. But obviously he's happy and lovin' life at 5 months!

Volleyball...Softball...same thing

Ok, so Brian pointed out to me that we don't play volleyball on Sunday nights we play Softball. Whatever, I was tired....

It's unbelievable how close to crawling Logan is. He gets up on his hands and knees and kind of rocks back and forth. He will lift his knees up, but doesn't really know what to do with them. He doesn't get that he needs to move his hands and his knees together. Brian thinks he'll be crawling within the next week. The funny thing is he'll get up on his hands and knees and want to crawl to get something, but can't yet so he just gets pissed off. He starts whining and screaming. I have a feeling once he does figure out how to crawl he is never going to stop moving. We're in so much trouble....

South Carolina

I'm in South Carolina right now for work. It's a very quick trip I left this morning and will be home tomorrow night by 9 assuming my flight doesn't get delayed or anything. Traveling for work is always kind of bitter sweet. It's fun to get out and see different parts of the country, but at the same time I miss Logie and Brian like crazy and it hasn't even been 24 hours since I left them. I'm sitting in my hotel room now just watching the Olympics, working and blogging. Not very glamorous.

Anyways, not much going on at the Ranch these days. Logan and I are going to the Twins game on Saturday with Kim, we'll see if Logan can go 4 - 0. The Twins have won all three games he's been to. Sunday will be a little weird since we don't have volleyball. Brian and I need to find some time to go get our new bowling balls. We're bowling in a couples league on Monday nights. It should be fun, but I'm a little concerned about $$$$$....I have a feeling it's going to get expensive. Another couple weeks before grad. school starts again. It starts during the National Convention here so I'm really really not looking forward to driving in downtown St. Paul during the Republican National Convention. I just hope I don't forget to go to class. It keeps slipping my mind that I have to go back to class. Every once in a while I'll find myself thinking, "Crap I have to go to school, what day is it? Did I miss it already? August 12, ok I've got a couple weeks before I need to really remember to go."

I'm tired....I need a vacation.....oh wait I just got back....crap

Birthmark

Here are a few pictures we took last night.

Look how close he is to crawling!! He's getting really good at sitting up now too. He'll start to tip over and catch himself with his arm and then kind of prop himself up with it. It's so cute!

This one is of his birthmark. Look how big it is!

This video is of some birds in our chimney. I think they've been in there a while, but lately they've been making a LOT of noise. No idea how we're going to get them out....Yes we are rednecks....

GO PACK GO!! Just had to throw that in! :-)

There's another new post after this one so keep reading.

Catching up

So I'm finally catching up on the blog.

First here are some pictures of Debbie and Mikey's new place.

Wednesday we left for Camp Croix. Camp Croix is in Danbury, WI which is by Spooner. It's one of the most fun times of the summer. It's a church camp with a big lodge and about 40 one room cabins. The cabins have four bunk beds in them, some of the them have dressers or shelves and they also have electricity. You kind kind of see from the following picture how small they are. There's another bunk bed on the other side and that's it. I'm pretty much taking the picture from the other wall.

In years past there would be about 25-30 of us going to camp every year, but as the cousins get older and start doing their own thing the numbers are dropping. This year we had at the highest point about 15 people but averaged about 7 people most of the weekend, people come and go all weekend long depending on what they have going on. That's just in our families group. There are a bunch of families that go to our church that also come and camp. So we pretty much know everyone in the camp grounds. We don't really do anything the entire time we're at camp. We eat, go to the beach and lay in the sun (or shade for me, Logan, Kim and Auntie), then head back up to the cabins to eat some more, then we just hang out by the fire and play games, read, talk. It's very relaxing!! The perfect end to a busy summer.

Logan did great! He loves to be outside so that helped. We brought a bunch of his toys with so that helped to keep him occupied and of course there was no shortage of people willing to hold him or play with him. All three days at the beach he took a 2 hour nap. We'd get to the beach, play in the water for a little bit and then he'd zonk out.

Here are a few pictures of Logan and his friend McKenzie Rud. Jamie (her mom) and I went to high school together. Jamie's family goes to our church and camps next to us at Camp Croix.

On the last day Logan started to lose his voice. It was very strange. At first we thought it was from all the smoke from the camp fire or else he was just getting sick from being in the water and outside for so long. But after today I really believe it was from teething. His bottom teeth are just starting to poke through. I've never heard of kids losing their voices because of teething, but you never know it could be connected. His voice is better today and the teeth just started to poke through. So I guess we'll never know for sure, but I can't believe he's getting teeth already, he's not even 5 months old yet.

Last night was the last night of softball for the year. It was the first round of playoffs so if we won our first game we kept going, but unfortunately we lost our game. I wasn't too sad at the time cause I was exhausted from the weekend and just wanted to go home and go to bed, but now I'm sad. It's so much fun to see everyone and spend time together. Oh well next year will be here before we know it and the fun will start again. Totally just thinking out loud here, but maybe we should have a softball party....that would be fun! We could do it in January or something when we haven't seen the people we play with in almost 6 months....I'll have to run that by BMeyer see what he thinks...

Sunday when we got home from camp we headed over to Mikey and Debbie's house for Stella's first birthday party (and Debbie's birthday too!) It was fun! Stella loved eating the cupcake and she made a HALL on the gifts! She's so cute. Here are a few pictures from the party. As you can see the party was too much for Logan....

This is the doll we gave Stella for her birthday. If you squeeze her stomach it laughs and the laugh is so funny you just can't help but laugh along!

Drowning

So we're back from vacation....right now I'm drowning in work e-mails, voice mails and other things on my "To Do" list. I will try to get the blog updated tonight but I don't want to make any promises. If I'm too tired to function tonight then the blog posting would probably not make sense....or else it will be very funny....we'll have to wait and see.

We had a good time camping though! Catch up with you later!

Blogger Jail

It's been so long since I've posted I should probably be thrown in blogger jail...or at least be given a blogger fine.

Last week was one of the busiest weeks of work for me. Thursday was the first annual "Nerdstock 2008". Now what in the world is Nerdstock you might ask? It's an event that myself and a co-worker of mine put together to bring the Software Development Community of 3M together. We had Anush Kumar the lead Software Architect of Microsoft's BizTalk RFID Framework here to present for the keynote and then following his presentation we had 4 break-out sessions on various software technologies or methodologies. We had about 90 people show up in person, which doesn't include the other 10-15 people that called into the keynote and break-out sessions. We had been planning the event for about 6 months and it was a huge success! But getting ready was very time consuming not to mention getting my "real" work done as well. We've had phenomenal feedback from the nerds of 3M on the event though so it makes it worth all the extra work.

Congratulations Mike and Debbie! Friday they closed on their first house...well it's really more of a cabin, but it's their first mortgage payment! It definitely needs a lot of work, but it's so cute and you can really see the potential. Mike does such great work he'll have that place shined up in no time! I do have pictures of it, but I forgot my camera cord at home so I can't download them at work. I'll try to do it tonight. The beach area by the lake needs a little TLC but again Debbie and Mikey will have it looking great in no time. One extra thing Mike and Deb didn't realize they would be getting with the house...a cat in the attic. That's right I said a cat! When they got there Friday and looked around in the attic they found a cat. The previous owners were in their 70's so we're thinking they just left it there, but we're not sure. There is a cat door on the house so the previous owners had to have a cat at some point. We tried all weekend long to get the cat out to no avail. Hopefully it will come down someday...

Brian and Mike worked on removing dead trees and brush from the cabin all weekend. Logan and Mom spent some quality time at home just hanging out and cleaning up a little bit. Last night was the last regular season game for softball. We won 20 - 10. Next week starts playoff so wish us luck...

This weekend is the annual Camp Croix vacation! I'm so excited! It's Logan's first trip to Camp Croix and I have to be honest I'm a little nervous for how it's going to go. I'm sure he'll be fine, and there's lots of family around to help. We're leaving Wednesday afternoon and not coming back until Sunday. By then I'm sure I'll have a ton to post about with lots of pictures. Wednesday is Debbie and Stella's birthdays. I can't believe it's been a year already since Stella was born! Sunday they're having a party for her (and Debbie) so that will be fun! And I'll have pics of that to share as well.

I suppose though you're probably sick of me blogging about nothing in particular at all so I'll sign off. Happy Monday!

Oh and I guess the other exciting thing is I cut my hair off. Jody calls the cut the "Jenny McCarthy Cut" see below. Jody I LOVE it! Thank You! You do a WAY better job than Brian with the clippers! ;-)
