Back to work

So I'm back to work today. It was very weird leaving the house this morning! I didn't cry though and I'm doing very good so far. Last night was interesting...Logan can certainly tell that it's Dad getting up with him at night and not Mom. He wouldn't go back to sleep for Dad and was very pissed that he had to wait for Dad to make the bottle instead of Mom feeling him right away. I'm sure it will just take a couple of days or a week or so for him to get used to the new arrangment.

There's not much for me to do at work right now. I'm having my laptop re-imaged so I don't have a computer and my manager is out of the office until about 2:30 or so. I've just been catching up with co-workers, getting the latest office gossip and getting filled in on the status of things around the office. It's been nice to see everyone again!

Milwaukee is fun

The trip to Milwaukee was a success. Logan did great in the car, he slept pretty much all the way there and back, which is great! It was really nice to see Jake, April and Layla again and be able to catch up and hang out for a while. Saturday we went to the Milwaukee County Zoo. I haven't been to the zoo in about 15 years so it was fun to see all the animals, but also sad. I didn't realize how inactive most of the animals are, just sitting there doing nothing. But I guess if you're in a cage all day what else do you have to do? Then Sunday we just hung out at home and grilled out. Thanks again Jake and April for the hospitality! We'll have to get together again soon.

Then Monday on our way home we stopped in and saw Jovie and Jaylee. They're beautiful! I was shocked to see just how small they are. But they both have a full head of hair. They're so cute and tiny. Jovie is doing great and Jaylee is getting stronger every day. We keep praying they'll grow strong fast so that they can go home, but the nurse there said it would be about 8-10 weeks before they would be strong enough to go home. Won't that be a special day when they can come home!

Today and tomorrow is my last days at home before I go back to work. I have mixed feelings about going back to work. One thing for sure it will be different. Last night Brian went on Logan duty for the night. Logan got up about 1:15 and Brian said it took about 45 mins to eat 4 oz. Then when Brian tried to get him back to sleep, Logan would be sleeping in his arms and the second he would put him down in the bassinet he would wake up again and start grunting around. Welcome to the middle of the night game Logan likes to play dad! Hopefully he'll out grow it soon!

Jovie and Jaylee Meyer

The Meyer family was expanded last night to include Jovie Jane and Jaylee Joy Meyer. Sunday night Carey's water broke. Her and Bob went in right away of course and they sent them to United/Children's Hospital right away. Sunday night they gave Carey something to stop the labor and then gave the twins steroids to help develop their lungs. Then Tuesday night they took Carey off the medicine that prevents labor and said if she goes into labor again they wouldn't stop it, they would just let the twins come. At only 28 weeks along it was very scary. Then last night Carey started having contractions and soon after Jovie and Jaylee were born. Jovie was born first at 2 lbs 3 oz and is breathing fine on her own. Jaylee is 3 lbs and is breathing 90% on her own. (I think that's right, sorry Bob and Carey if it's not) The girls have to stay in the hospital for a while, but are doing fine. Carey is doing great as well. They did have to do a c-section since the lower twin (Jovie) was breech and there wasn't enough amniotic (sp?) fluid for her to flip around. Everyone is doing fine and we're all so excited to have two more little Meyer babies! We can't wait to meet them! We love you Bob and Carey and can't wait to see you too! I'll let everyone know if I hear more.

Have a great Memorial weekend everyone!

Week of firsts

This has been a week of first for Logan. Monday he turned two months old, obviously a first and only for Logan. Then Tuesday he got to go for his first 4-wheeler ride. Please no one call Social Services on us. He was safe. Dad strapped his car seat base to the back of the 4-wheeler. We didn't go very far and stayed on very solid flat ground. He really liked it though, he was awake the entire time just looking around. He loves vibrations and the 4-wheeler vibrated a lot. We may have to try that trick if we can't get him to calm down someday....

Then Tuesday night Logan got to go to his first Twins game. My brother and cousin had free tickets so we went to the game. It was a blast! The seats were great, 7th row up from the bull pen on the third base line. Logan did alright, he was kind of fussy the first 4 innings. He would be looking around and then the crowd would cheer and he'd start to cry. But then in the 4th inning he fell asleep. I guess the games are just too boring for him right now. But the Twins won 11-4 and it was a very good game.

Today we had his two month check-up. The doctor said he's a perfect little boy. He's in the 25th percentile for height and weight and doing all the things two month old boys should be doing, looking around, turning towards sounds and voices. He was impressed that he was standing and using his legs as much as he does. Then he got three shots. He was not happy about that, but fell asleep on the way home and has been pretty much sleeping ever since. He got up a little bit to eat something and then went back to sleep. It's been a big couple of days for him.

Friday afternoon we're leaving to make the long trip across the state to visit Jake, April and Layla. So that will be another first for Logan...first trip across the state, first time meeting Jake and April and his future wife Layla. :-) April mentioned we might go to the zoo while we're there and that would be another first for him. While all these first are fun, it will be super fun to experience them all again with him when he's about 5 or 6 and he can really appreciate them! But for now it's fun for mom and dad!

Love you all!

Bus Races

Well, sadly BMeyer's rein as the bus racing champion has come to an end. He battled back from last place to second place in the third race, but couldn't hold on in the final feature race. Although I believe he's the only person to tip his bus over in the feature race and then pull out his bus from last year and keep racing...only BMeyer...and although he was leading in the bus from last year, he still ended up tipping over...again... He's completely fine, not even a scratch on him so that's all that really matters!

Good job babe, we're proud of you and all the Osceola students!

Oh and I'm sure Brian's one of few people in the WORLD that can say they drove a bus on two wheels.... :-)

Here are two clips from the races. Brian's in the green bus in the first video and the black bus in the second video.

New Friend

Yesterday Logan went and hung out with his new friend Trenton James Thompson. They had a lot of fun together, laying next to each other. It was pretty fun, cause every time Logan would start to cry, Trenton would also start to cry. Trenton is 3 weeks old. I forgot how little they are when they're just born and it's only been 8 weeks since I had Logan. Until yesterday I thought Logan was still little, but now I realize how much he's grown in the last 8 weeks.

Uncle Steven, here I am in one of the outfits you got me for Christmas. It's still a little long for me, but the pants fit great! I love my outfits, Thank you! Love you!

Grandma Meyer's Birthday and Logan's Baptism

Grandma Meyer's 80th Birthday party was a blast. It was so good to see the Meyer family again!

The baptism was a success and a lot of fun! Thanks everyone for coming especially my sister who came all the way from NY! We really appreciate everyone supporting Logan!

And below is another video of Logan "talking". It's cute.
