Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday Brian! Saturday was Brian's 29th Birthday. We didn't really do anything special for his birthday, just hung out at home. We spent the morning around the house cleaning a little. Then we went out to the lake that Debbie and Mikey's house will be on. (They're buying a cabin/house on a lake on Thursday. We're so excited for them!) After a little tour of the lake we headed over to Bob and Carey's house to see the Twins and of course Bob and Carey. Debbie and Mikey came over as well so we snapped a few pictures of all the cousins together.

Then we headed home to do more house work and yard work. After the work was done, Mom gave Dad a hair cut and then Dad gave Logan his first hair cut! Dad was getting sick of Logan's long Donald Trump hair do, so he took the clippers to him. He looked so different afterward! But cute as well. His hair is completely blond now, no more red hair. Sorry Jody Brian really wanted to cut his hair and even said while he was cutting it, "Jody's going to be mad!" Don't worry we'll bring him in when he's older and you can give him his first real hair cut! :-)

What do you think?

After the hair cuts we got ready and went out to dinner and then over to uncle Dan's to hang out and watch the Twins game. Then home to bed. I felt really bad that I didn't have anything special planned for Brian, but he kept telling me how much he enjoyed just hanging out at home and relaxing. It's been awhile since we didn't have anything going on for an entire weekend. It was so nice!

Today we hung out at home in the morning and then at about noon headed up to the Polk County fair. We walked around for a little bit, but then loaded up the camper and headed home.

Here are a few pictures of our softball team. Grandma and Grandpa Steffen came to the game tonight and took some pictures for me. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma! We ended up winning by two runs. We were down 10 - 5 and had a big 6th inning and came back to win 13 - 11. It was a fun game, we played the Friendly which is pretty much all our friends from Osceola. It was a fun game but super HOT!!

Some random pictures. Here's Kim and I at golf on Thursday! I wish I could say we're getting better....but that would be a lie...

One of Logan taking a drink of my beer on Friday night. He didn't really like it and spit it all out right away, but he liked to play with the bottle.

One from Saturday. He had fallen asleep in his car seat holding his foot and wouldn't let go of it. It was kind of funny.

And finally my two babies! They were both chewing on their toys so I had to take a picture. They're so cute!

Meyermania III

Meyermania III was the calmest of the three Meyermania's so far. The turnout was less than in years past, but we still had about 25 people there and it was still fun. It rained...scratch that it poured early in the afternoon. You can see from the pictures we all hid inside the garage. It took us longer to finish the first keg, but it was finished about 8 p.m. and then we started the keg toss. This year they called it a three way tie between Mikey Meyer, Jason (a.k.a Pete) Steffen and Ben Brown. We even had a powder puff division of the keg toss this year! Debbie and I called it a tie between us. Go Debbie! :-) Then everyone pretty much got their drink on, the second keg went way faster than the first keg. The rest of the night was spent in a blur, although I do remember playing bean bag toss! Thanks to everyone that attended! I can't wait until next year!

Logan's 4 month check-up yesterday went very well. Again the doctor said we have a perfect baby. He said he's very alert and curious for a 4 month old and was impressed by how long he can play in his jumper. Logan also got his 4 month boster shots after a very lengthy discussion about vacinations and all the media linking them with autisum. Logan did much better after his shots this time then when he was 2 months old. He didn't get a fever this time and his legs weren't even that sore. He was standing and rolling over like normal. He weight in at 15 lbs 4 oz (55th percentile) and 25 inches long (60th percentile) so he's average. I'm trying to get some footage of him rolling over, but everytime I get the camera out he just lays there and looks at me. He's also discovered his toes. He loves to pull on them and suck on them. It's so funny! Oh and Logan had a blast with my mom and dad on Saturday night. Thanks again Grandma and Grandpa for watching Logan! We love you!

And finally...

Full name: Logan's Chocolate Tank
Alias: Tank
Mission:
To chew everything I can find.
Lick Logan to death.
Annoy Ruger by following him around and then laying on him.

Today I went out to the garden to weed and I had put Logan on a blanket on the ground to play with his toys. After about 10 min. he just started screaming, I look over and Tank is sitting on his head trying to play with him. It was scary and hilarious at the same time. Brian ran over and picked Tank up and put him in his kennel. Logan was fine, not even a scratch on him, but he's not really into Tank yet. I guess I've learned my lesson the hard way...can't leave the baby and the puppy alone together.

Recovering

I apologize for not updating the blog yet from Meyermania. I took yesterday off work to continue recovering...that and because Logan had his 4 month checkup and I wanted to be there for that. And then of course I left my camera at home today, so I will try to get the blog updated with some pictures/videos of Meyermania, an update on the puppy name (Thank you to everyone [eeemmm April and Linds] for suggesting names!) and of course an update on Logan's appointment yesterday!

Having Monday off makes a world of difference in the work week. I think the US should go to a 4 day work week, we'd probably get more done. I suggest we try it for one year, if it doesn't work we can always switch back. Who's with me?

Logan's new brother!

First off NO I AM NOT PREGNANT AGAIN! Last night we went and picked up our new puppy, Logan's new brother! Originally BMeyer was trying to decide between the tall yellow lab standing or the chocolate lab laying down on the left with it's eyes open in the following picture.

However, we ended up getting the chocolate lab laying down on the right with his eyes closed. Yes April it the one that you wanted me to pack up and send to you. He's so cute. When we went to pick him up Brian was still trying to decide between the two male chocolate labs. But he saw this one head over to the tall weeds and pinch out a crap and...well...that was that. We all know how BMeyer hates landmines in the yard...and well I hate them too! So we scooped him up and headed home. He did great on the car ride home, didn't whine at all and did even better last night. At first we put him in the kennel in the garage and he just screamed! So then Brian moved him to the big kennel outside the garage and he was just fine. We also gave him one of Logan's stuffed animals to chew on/play with/cuddle with and I think that helped.

We don't have a name picked out yet. We're kind of making a contest out of it. This Saturday at Meyermainia we're going to have people write names and put them into a basket, then Sunday morning we'll read all the names and pick one we like. I'm sure as the night progresses we'll get more colorful answers! :-) If you're unable to attend Meyermainia but wanted to weight in on the name of the new puppy please add a comment to this post and we'll add it to the pot on Saturday.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday at Meyermainia III!

Typewriter or Twirler

Each year around harvest time at the Meyer Ranch, there ensues a discussion about the best way to eat corn on the cob. Brian is a twirler and twirls his corn on the cob; whereas I eat my corn the correct way like a typewriter. So this past weekend as we had the annual discussion we decided to put it to a poll and ask our family, friends and fellow blogger how they eat their sweet corn. Let us know how you enjoy it.

Mary Mary Quite Contrary...

How does your garden grow?

Very well surprisingly! Last night Brian, Sherri and I were able to enjoy the first "fruits" of our garden for dinner...green beans! I'm so excited that our garden actually worked, I figured we'd get nothing out of it but a bunch of weeds. I know we owe the success of our garden in large part to BMeyer and his masterful gardening skills! And I also know we have a long ways to go before we're even close to being master gardeners, but I'm just happy we were able to actually eat something out of it. The peas are almost ready too...although if Brian keeps eating them right out of the garden I'm not sure they'll ever actually make it to the dinning room table. :-) The only thing that really struggling to survive are the peppers, but hey for our first attempt at a garden I'm very happy with how things are turning out!

I also got a new camera on Tuesday! I love it and am so excited about it! Check it out.

Keep scrolling....

Lots of new posts so make sure you keep scrolling down....

Wanted...a good home for cute puppies!

So Ruger's puppies are ready to find good homes!

Zach brought 6 of the 12 over tonight for us to pick out the puppy we're going to get. It's a toss up right now between the big yellow one standing in the back of the following image and the chocolate lab laying on the left hand side in the following image.

If anyone is interested in taking one of these adorable puppies home please let us know. They're pure-bred Labrador Retrievers and there is yellow, chocolate, and black ones. The males are going for $350 and the females are going for $375. You can send me an e-mail or give me a call if you're interested. They need good homes!

Cereal

Sunday, Mom and Dad fed Logan his first rice cereal. I have a video of it, but I couldn't get youtube to upload it for me so I'll work on that later. For right now here are some pictures. He did really good, ate the entire bowl...although he was really fussy the rest of the day so I'm not sure if he got gas from it or what.

These pictures are of Logan holding his own bottle. He can't reach out and grab it and put it in his mouth, but he will hold it while he's eating. He'll sometimes hold it long enough to eat the entire bottle.

There's also a picture here that shows how far Logan will scoot when he's on the floor. When I put him on the floor he was over by his burp rag...and now look where he is...
