Pneumonia or RSV?

We took Cody in to Urgent Care last Saturday due to his really bad cough. He wasn't coughing frequently, but when he did cough it sounded like he had smoked three packs a day for 64 years. So we figured we better get him looked at.

The doctor listened to his chest for quite a long time and when he finally took the stethoscope out of his ears he pronounced that he believed Cody had a little pneumonia in his lower left lobe. He then continued to examine Cody; checking his eyes and ears and throat. He also said that it looked like Cody was just starting to get an ear infection as well. So he said we could do a chest x-ray to either confirm or deny the pneumonia, but that he would prescribe antibiotics for the ear infection anyways and that's what they would also give him for the pneumonia so we could do the x-ray if I wanted, but it would change the treatment much. So we just went with the Amoxicillin for 10 days and hoped that he would start sounding better soon. Both the doctor and the pharmacist said the antibiotics should kick in very quickly.

Well after three days he still had the horrible cough, and basically nothing had changed. Looking back I'm not sure he really had pneumonia; he could have had RSV and the doctor just thought it was pneumonia (which based on my research is a common misdiagnosis.) Also ear infections are a common symptom of RSV as well. I'm glad to be able to write that he's doing much better now and seems back to normal. He's so great, cause even when he had the horrible cough he was still the smiling little mouse we know and love. He was still eating and drinking great and playing like normal. He wasn't sleeping super great, but who knows if that was due to being sick or just a little phase.

As for Logan he's doing great. He had a mild cold the last couple of weeks, but is feeling great now. He's definitely heading into the terrible twos at full throttle. He knows how to push the limits just far enough without crossing the line. We'll tell him not to kick his brother and what does he do? He slowly extends his food just far enough so that it lightly touches Cody's head. Now is that really kicking Cody? Do I continue to tell him not to kick his brother when he's not really "kicking" him? He does things like that all the time; continuously pushing the limits. I can't imagine where he gets it from...Brian! Here's a prime example! As I was writing this post, Brian called from Madison (State Wrestling), so I put my computer down and answered the phone. Logan was playing with his train while I was talking to Brian (Brian could even hear him going, "Chooo Chooo"). When I hung up the phone with Brian I look up and there's Logan...he had pulled 12 keys off my work laptop! AAAARRRR I was able to fix all but 1 of them (the down arrow key), but seriously?!?!? The kid has to get into everything and the first thing he usually wants to do with a new toy or really anything is figure out how to take it apart. You seriously can not take your eyes off that kid for more than 30 seconds. If you do he's probably already distroyed something.

Here's a few pictures and a video of Logan. Could he be the next Brett Favre?

Action Shot! Look at that form!

Another picture of Logan with something on his head...SHOCKER! :-)

The other day Logan wanted to lay next to Cody so he set this up all by himself...well ok Mom helped him lay Cody on the pillow, but he put the blankets down and the pillows and pointed to where he wanted Cody. Such a good big brother!

Some pictures of Cody. Here he's playing with his favorite blue rattle. He loves to suck on it and shake it around.

And finally a picture of Cody sitting up all by himself. About a min or so is the most he'll be able to sit right now; then he usually reaches for a toy or something and topples over...or...

His brother comes by and knocks him over. I just love his picture cause Cody's face says it all. "Oh crap...down I go...thanks Brother!"

Falling Behind

Yup I'm falling behind in blog posting land...things at work have intensified and there's no lack of things to do at home. I promise to get a blog post out tomorrow (even if I have to do it during my class... :-) ).

Cody really thinks Logan is THE funniest (most funny)? person in the whole world! Listen/See for yourself.

It's a brother and sister kind of thing!

Shots, shots, shots, shots, shots

This weekend both the boys had (and still do) had really bad colds. Logan was running a bit of a fever on Saturday afternoon as well. He just wasn't himself. He was kind of sad and just laid around most of the night. I know when I don't feel good the only thing I want to do is lay around with a bucket on my head and watch tv...and it must be the same for Logan cause that's what he did...

Sunday though he was feeling much better. Auntie Carey and Uncle Bob came over with the twins and brought Logan his Christmas present. (Because the Vikings were doing so well it was on back order for weeks...amazingly as soon as they lost the helmet was available...go figure right?). He LOVES this helmet. It took him a while to warm up to it before he'd actually put it on his head, but once he did he didn't want to take it off. He wore it all day. Thanks Bob and Carey!

Grandma Meyer got Cody this bib for Valentine's Day.

"Aaahh Mom? Are you trying to do what you did to Logan and make me look like a girl? I'm not ok with that!" :-)

Cody Mouse - 5 Months

My little Cody mouse is 5 months old already, can you believe it? You're such a happy baby! Your smiles are so big and just light up your entire face, people would have to be a scrooge if it didn't make them smile as well. You've been eating solids now for about two weeks and just loves it! It's hard to get you to take a bottle some times cause all you want is cereal. And you eat so much! Julie said to me the other day, "I don't know how he was getting enough food when he was just on formula? He eats so much cereal." Which could have been part of the reason why you weren't sleeping well at night. You've been doing better these last couple of weeks, but still up at least once a night. You weight 18 lbs, but don't really look chubby and mainly I think it's cause you're so long. I'm betting you're going to be tall or at least taller than Logan cause you already are longer than Logan was at this age. You've also almost out grown your 3 - 6 month clothes. Most of them still fit, but a few of them are getting really tight.

Cody you LOVE your brother! And I know that Logan loves you as well. As soon as you see your brother you get the biggest smile on your face and just squeal. Logan thinks it's fun and then tries to tickle you, which you also love! It fills my heart completely to watch the two of you play and laugh together. And at night Logan can't go to bed without kissing Cody goodnight.

You're really starting to get around more as well. The picture below show's how much you do get around. When I set you on the floor you were over by the burp rag on the left hand side of the picture below. You just roll and roll, back and forth and sort of scoot around.

Here's a short video of you starting to get up on your knees. Won't be long I'm sure and you'll be crawling.

You also LOVE to be naked...or at least have your clothes off and just your diaper on. At night you'll get kind of fussy right before bed and the only thing that calms you down is taking off your clothes and letting you roll around on the floor in your diaper. Luckily Daddy finished the fireplace so the floor and the house is nice and toasty warm! You love to grab your toes and kick your legs up. You're also my little TV baby. You really like to watch the TV. If it's on in the room you crank your neck around to see it and love to watch the colors change. Mom listens to the satellite radio on cable a lot and you love to watch the little 'Directv' symbol fly around the screen.

Happy naked baby!

Aaahhh, a little help here Mom...I'm falling over...

Nevermind. I'll just chill here like this for a while.

I love you my little mouse!
Love,
Mom

P90X: Bring It...Brought It...Done!

I know I know, most of you are probably sick of me talking about P90X, but it's a difficult program for 90 days and I'm extremely proud of completing it. Sunday Sherri and I did final testing and took our after shots, so I promise this is the last time I'll talk about it on the blog/facebook.

The before and after shots.

Sherri looked FANTASTIC before we even started! Most people would kill for her before body! But she worked hard and pushed herself every day to get better! Great work Sherri and thank you for motivating me to keep going! I couldn't have done it without you!

Here's my shots. No I am not "pushing out" in the side shot...that was my little Cody Mouse belly...which I'm glad to say is now gone and all I'm left with is the cutest little boy!!

The stats:

Yes Sherri did gain weight during this. Muscle weights more than fat!
Yes we did count halfs for pull-ups...have you tried one...they're the hardest things on Earth to do...my 2 1/2 about killed me...
Toe Touch is a flexibility thing...which I suck at so getting to +5 was almost my biggest accomplishment for the training...well besides my 2 1/2 pull-ups.
In & Outs are ab strength...as you can see before I started I had NO ab muscles...I did just have a baby 3 months ago though so I didn't really expect too much.

It feels so good to say that we've done this! Thanks again Sherri for helping me kick Tony Horton's ass! :-)

Ok, now I won't talk about it any more....

Hair cuts

Brian's in charge of hair cuts around the Ranch. He gave Cody his first hair cut already even! Now I'm a little upset because he gave Cody his first hair cut when I was stuck in the airport in Chicago...Mom was not very happy about this AT ALL! I already missed everyone like crazy and then to miss out on my son's first hair cut...well that just broke the camels back! But it's ok...I know I won't miss his first REAL hair cut with Jody though...you can count on that!

Brian did save some of Cody's hair for me though and said we could reenact the hair cut. Here's our attempt at it last weekend and some pictures of Brian cutting Logan hair.

NOT THE REAL THING...NOT THE REAL THING...

Rice Cereal

We started Cody on rice cereal last weekend. He did GREAT! He's a whole month older than Logan was when we started him on rice cereal and the month made a difference. He really understood how to swallow better. First we just tried the rice cereal, but then we added in some bananas to add some flavor. He really liked it with the bananas...guess it's just mom that doesn't like bananas.

"HRM...what is this solid stuff?"

"Hey...it's not too bad."

"But Dad, I'd much rather do it myself."

Such a big boy!

Cousins

Saturday afternoon Debbie, Mikey, Stella and Weston stopped by to visit. Mikey had to grab a few things quickly so they weren't planning on staying, but Stella was so excited to see Logan that she immediately took off her boots and coat and decided she was staying. Which was totally fine with me since I hadn't seen her since Christmas! Debbie and Mikey still had things to do, so Stella stayed behind and hung out with Logan. It was so fun watching them play together. For the most part they play really well together, but every once in a while you get this...

Here are some more pictures from Saturday night.

Both Stella and Logan are at the stage where you say, "Smile" and they both give you the squinty eyes and huge smile...it's so cute!

Playing in the basket. I'm starting to realize that Logan really likes to wear things on his head...I've got so many pictures/videos of him with buckets, bags, coffee cans on his head...

Steller

See even Cody got in on the big smiles and "Cheese!". ;-)

Haha guys I'm up on the counter!! "I am Mighty Mouse!"

It was late when Debbie and Mikey got back so they just decided to stay the night and hang out on Sunday. It was so much fun! Sunday Brian and Mikey cut wood so Stella, Logan, Debbie and I ventured outside while the two little boys napped. It was cold, but also fun. Stella didn't have her snow pants with, so since she's so little she wore Cody's snow suit. She looked so funny in it. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. Here's a few pictures and a video of them...so cute!

Stella Bear!

I love the look from behind! :-)

Winter Fun!

Going for a 4-wheeler ride!

He was cold and the sun was too bright.

Stella was making snow angels.

Here's some more pictures from the weekend and another video. The other big thing this weekend was Cody started eating solid foods. I've got a post on that coming up as well...and one other one I think...

Uncle Brian's so fun!

Bath time fun...Cody and Weston first...(doesn't it look like Cody's sleeping? He's not of course)

Then Stella and Logan. It would have been way way to crazy to put all four of them in the tub at once...maybe some day though!

I Love this picture! So cute!

Cousins!
