Weekend Adventures
This weekend was actually pretty low key for us. Just hanging out. April Seiberlich our nanny from this summer came over on Saturday to hang with us. The boys (and us too) really miss her, but schools going well for her and she's having a blast! We're super excited for her and wish her the best. We took the boys to Teddy Bear Park in Stillwater. It's a really cool park!!
Cody kept smashing his face into one of those playground bubbles. It was super funny...and super gross...I'm sure there's all kinds of germs and buggers and snot on those things.
We went to Target after the park and both boys wanted to get down and walk. Logan was so cute taking Cody's hand and leading him around the store.
The rest of Saturday was spent hanging out at home. The excitement didn't start until Brian got back in from bow hunting. He had shot a 10-pointer!! He came in right after he shot it and didn't go look for it immediately. I think partly because he wanted to let it sit for a while and not push it too much, but partly I think so that Logan could go with him to help track it. Logan was so excited that he got to go with and track the big buck!! After they had found it he came running into the house jumping up and down with excitement. Then he started re-enacting the tracking process; showing me how he looked for blood and screaming, "Blood" when he found some...which he actually did find some and Uncle Mike didn't believe him, but he did! It's going to be so great when he can actually go hunting with Daddy and kill the big buck himself! :-)
A couple weeks ago Brian got Logan the movie "Cars" on Bluray. I'm still trying to decide if it was a stroke of genius or not because now he asks to watch it all the time...but it does keep him entertained for quite a while so it allows Mom to get some work done around the house...the jury's still out... But it's so funny when he wants to watch it and we say no. He cocks his head to the side, gives us his saddest fast and go, "but it's my favorite movie". It's too cute!! And of course now he loves all this "Cars" gear, like PJs, and slippers and underwear, etc.
Then Sunday morning we carved pumpkins. Logan still didn't really want to stick his hand in the pumpkin to clean it out....Cody on the other hand dug right in! :-)
And last but not least, Sunday night Sherri treated Logan to Mickey's Magic show at the Excel Energy Center! Logan was pretty excited about it! He kept asking, "Where's Mickey". Thanks Auntie Sherri!! We love you!

April
I know a lot of you know our good friends the Sherman's. Well last week they discovered that April has an Atypical Meningioma (most likely, a slow-growing, benign tumor). The details of last week are described on their blog here. I'm posting here asking everyone to please pray for her and her family. I never thought I'd say the words "typical" and "brain surgery" in the same sentence, but we're being told that her surgery next week will be a typical one and she'll be as good as new afterward. Even with that being the case it doesn't hurt to have a few extra prayers thrown in for good measure!
I know it always seems to be the case that things like this happen to the kindest, most hardworking, loving people, but it really is the case. Jake and April are one of the most hardworking, respectful and honest people I know. Doing their part every day to make the world a better place to raise their beautiful little girl. The last 8 months have not been easy for them and this little "lump" is just the icing on the cake. I know everyone, every family, goes through stressful difficult times and the piece of mind that most people have is, "we've got our health and that's all that really matters". But what do you say when your health isn't ok, when your health is adding to the stress and difficulties? From what I can tell, you turn to the thing that probably would have helped the stressful and difficult times to begin with...family, friends, and the Lord. You lean on your family and friends for support and comfort and love. You say the things you should have said before you found out anything was wrong. You stop and look at things a little differently. So please, stop and say a pray thanking the Lord that your family and friends are healthy and happy. And while you're at it add a quick request for April and her family, I'll be forever grateful and it couldn't be for a better family or friends.
Thank you and we love you all!

Living Life
Life is not a race - but indeed a journey.
Be honest.
Work hard.
Be choosy.
Say "thank you", "I love you", and "great job" to someone each day.
Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh.
Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper.
Love your life and what you've been given, it is not accidental.
Search for your purpose and do it as best you can.
Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you inspire to be.
Laugh often.
Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them.
Some of the best things really are free.
Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming.
Forgive, it frees the soul.
Take time for yourself - plan for longevity.
Recognize the special people you've been blessed to know.
Live for today, enjoy the moment.

Fall
This is what the clubhouse looked like last weekend...
So of course we had to rake up the leaves and jump in them!
Our great pumpkin's! We grew them and we'll carve them!
Last but not least...Logan was helping Daddy get ready for his hunting trip last week. My camera battery died right after this or I was going to get some video of them popping up out of the blind and shooting the geese. Cody eventually got in on the action as well and now will pick up Logan's gun and walk around the house going, "Bang Bang Bang". It's too funny!
I guess the last thing I want to leave you with is something that Kelly Hampton said on her blog Enjoying the Small Things.
Brett (her husband) has this theory that when you have a moment of deja vu, it means you are exactly where you are supposed to be in life; that, somehow, if you feel like you've lived through a moment in life before, it has to mean the universe is letting you know you should be living that moment.
I have deja vu moments all the time; I mean probably at least once a month. Her comment hit right to the core of me. It felt like it finally made sense why I have them so often. I'm exactly where I should be in life. Living and loving every moment, every last drop, out of this crazy life and the crazy people I share it with!

Mommy the Moon!
Logan loves to point out the moon. Every time we're outside and he sees it it's the same thing...
Logan: Mommy the Moon!! Look the Moon!
Me: Wow look it is the Moon.
So last night we were driving home from my cousin Kim's house and he pointed it out as we were getting into the car.
Logan: Mommy the Moon! Look the Moon!
Me: Wow, that's cool.
(We're in the car driving a little ways.)
Logan: Mommy I can't find the moon. Where's the moon?
Me: It's in front of us, you'll see it when we turn the corner.
Logan: I'm going to go home and put my rocket ship jammies on.
Me: That's a good idea.
Logan: I'm going to go to the moon.
Me: In your rocket ship?
Logan: Yeah! In my rocket ship jammies.
(We keep driving...)
Logan: I'm going to go home and put my rocket ship jammies on Mom. I'm going to go to the moon. You want to come with me?
Me: I'd love to go with you! And Cody too?
Logan: Yeah!
Me: What are we going to do when we get to the moon?
Logan: Get Pluto's ball.
(I just started laughing. There's an episode of Mickey Mouse clubhouse where they all go to the moon to get Pluto's ball back because Minnie bounced it all the way to the moon.)
Me: Wow I bet Pluto will be glad to get his ball back.
Logan: Yeah he's sad. He's crying.
I LOVE that Logan's getting to the stage where he's making up stories and using his imagination more. It's so fun!! I can't wait for all the other funny stories and things he'll say!
