Border Battle Buddies

Saturday was the second game in the Twins Brewers series and Kim organized a Border Battle Buddies party. There were 33 of us that went to the game and it was almost a 50/50 split between Brewers fans and Twins fans, although I am sad to report I think there were more Brewers fans then Twins fans. It was a blast though! Kim and I had made a sign for my brother Mitchell since he wasn't able to attend (see below), and then I had a co-worker help put together the Border Battle Buddies sign (see below).




Our goal was to have Bert Blyleven circle us. Bert does the analysis for the Twins and each game circles fans that have signs. This year a certain fan is picked to get circled and then gets $100 in scratch off lottery tickets. We wanted to win the scratch offs, but settled for getting circled. And it didn't take long into the game to get circled. We were circle before the game even started. See the video clip below. Sorry it's kind of a bad clip, I DVRd the game and then had to take a video of the DVRd game with my camera, but you get the point.

Then Kim had requested a Twins-o-gram for my brother as well. (See the picture below.) So that was really cool and up on the big screen.



Then a lady next to us won the Bauchman's flowers of the game, so the camera guy was close to us. Steven started talking to him and the next break they did the Kiss-cam on the big screen and Brian and I got on that. I know the picture is hard to tell that it's be and Brian, but take my word for it it is.



The Twins ended up winning 6 - 2 and ended up sweeping the Brewers in the series. Sorry Brewers fans, but GO TWINS!

The rest of the weekend was just relaxing and working around the ranch. Nothing major. I am pretty excited though, I got some hanging flower baskets for the front of the house and they look awesome! I'll try to take some pictures and post them on the blog. Everything is up in the garden, so that's looking great even though we've had no rain all spring. The only thing we've lost so far was the homemade pickle plants. Two of them are still hanging on, but I don't give them much longer....oh well, we'll either plant more or just pick the other cucumbers when they're smaller.

Hump day tomorrow already!! Gotta love the short work weeks!

Oh and that reminds me...Many thanks to all the American service men and women that have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. We depend on you, believe in you, and need you more than you know! Thank you!

Bloom and Bus Races

This Saturday was jam packed for the Meyer's.

First Brian helped Mikey pour concrete at the cabin. The pour went really well and the concrete looks amazing! It's so exciting to watch the cabin come together. It reminds me of watching Brian build the ranch, all the excitement and anticipation as each new step is completed. Great work Mikey! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Then Saturday afternoon we had Jovie and Jaylee's first birthday party. It was fun and the girls are so cute! Jaylee just loved being able to dig in her cake, Jovie on the other hand didn't get too excited about it...but it was fun to watch!






Then Saturday night it was off to the 5th annual bus races! Brian had brought the bus home Friday night, so he could bring it to the track on Saturday, so Logan and I had a chance to take some pictures and play in the bus. Logan thought it was the COOLEST thing. He just loved sitting on the seat and especially loved pulling the air horn. Every time the air horn would go off he's start laughing. Needless to say we've got a driver in training....



The bus races are such an amazing event each year! It's so fun to watch the students and community pour out to support Brian and the bus. I am sad to report that BMeyer wasn't able to pull out a victory this year...officially...but we all know who the best driver on the track was on Saturday night. And of course he's the only driver to ever needed to throw the bus in reverse to keep it from tipping over...(see the video is below). Upon later review of the tap the 15 lap feature race was cut down to 12 laps and no white flag was waved to indicate one lap left. If he would have had one more lap he would have been victorious, but again, we all know who the best driver on the track was Saturday night. I just love watching everyone support Brian though. It was so cute, after the races these two kids had come up to my Mom and Dad and asked if Brian was around and if he'd sign their shirts for them. Unfortunately we had already left because we had to get to my 10 year high school reunion. :-( But you can see just how much everyone loves Brian and how each year at this time he turns into a local celebrity. We went into the bar later that night and everyone was slapping him on the back and congratulating him. I'm so proud of you babe! If you look on youtube for "Osceola Bus Races" there are some videos on there with the full feature race as well as a few of the other races. If you get a chance and want to watch.









Then as I mentioned before it was off to my 10 year high school class reunion after the races. We didn't get there until almost 11, but there was still a ton of people there and it was so good to see some of my friends that I haven't seen in literally 10 years. Those events can be so awkward, but if you try to remember everyone feels the same awkwardness, then it makes it a little better. Anyways, Saturday was a long and eventful day, but super fun!

Then Sunday we just relaxed. Our apple orchard is in full bloom right now and so beautiful! Here's some pictures below as well as a few shots of Logan and Stella playing with the dandelions in the yard. And then a couple of Logan playing in the sandbox at Mike and Deb's cabin. The kid loves to dig in the sand!

Meyermania IV - July 25th

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that Meyermania IV will be July 25th this year. We'll also be celebrating the 9th anniversary of Brian's 21st Birthday as well! Mark your calendars.

Subs So Fast You'll Freak

I never knew how true that statement was until I went to Jimmy Johns today.

I walked in and they immediately start yelling at you, "Heeyo" which is weird and uncomfortable since then everyone in the restaurant looks up from their subs to see who just walked in the door. But I walk to the counter, trying to ignore the 15 pairs of eyes on me and the sub girl, not the cashier, but the sub girl next to him immediately grabs the sub bread, cuts it open, rips out the inside of the bread and violently hurls it into the trash next to her, all before I can even say, "I'd like a #3 with no sprouts and can I please have the inside of my bread." Both the cashier and the sub girl stop and look at me as though I just spoke Mandarin Chinese to them. Then the sub girl begins to glare at me because I've disrupted her super speedy process of throwing subs together before people can even say what they really want on them, but she proceeds to grab the next piece of sub bread, again cutting it open and literally ripping out the inside of the bread and angrily throws it on the counter next to my sub which has moved on to the next sub maker in this super fast sub assembly line. If it wasn't for the fact that I could see everything they were doing with my sub I fully expected to get a large lugi in my freaky fast sub.

But can someone please tell me what the point is of cutting open the bread, ripping out the soft, moist, most delicious part of the bread and chucking it into the trash, leaving behind a crusty, hard shell of a sandwich? Why? How much money is Jimmy John's wasting each year to bake the inside of their bread only to throw it away as soon as someone even waves in the direction of their restaurant? I don't understand it. Find a way to bake the bread without the inside, or just bake flat bread, or even better, leave the soft, most delicious part of my sandwich alone! Or at least don't look at me as though I've just pushed your Grandma in a snow bank when I ask for the inside of my bread. Damn it!
