Yesterday we had to take Logan to the doctor. He's had a diaper rash off and on since he's been born. I tried a bunch of different things, switching wipes, letting it air out more, switching diapers and nothing seemed to be helping. And then the last two days it had gotten a lot worse. His skin had broken open and it had even started bleeding. I called the nurses line to ask what else I should try and she said that it might be a bacterial infection so I should bring him in to have it looked at. What surprised me most about the visit is the doctor said we brought him in at the perfect time and that she's seen much worse diaper rashes. I was dumbfounded. I just couldn't believe people would let a diaper rash get worse than that? I felt so bad for him and thought his was super bad I couldn't imagine a worse diaper rash. But we filled the rx for the cream and it's looking way better today. Once we get it cleared up we'll have to make sure we figure out how to prevent it from coming back. Poor little guy...
This week Auntie Sherri is staying with us and it's been super fun! We haven't done anything too exciting, we went shopping yesterday and got a baptism outfit for Logan. Sherri helped mom clean the house today!! Thank you so much Sherri!! You're the best! It's been nice having someone else to help with Logan when he gets a little fussy or just hold him when he's awake and happy but doesn't want to get put down. Plus it's been very nice just hanging out with Sherri. We haven't done that in a while and it's been fun catching up!
This morning we "had a melt down" according to Dad...but it's completely different then Mom's definition of a "melt down". Here's what happened. It was 7 and Dad was getting up for work. Mom asked Dad to change Logan's diaper and bring him back to me and I'd finish feeding him (praying that by feeding him he'd go back to sleep for another hour or so.) Dad took Logan out of the room and Mom went back to sleep. The next thing Mom here's is "Mom we've had a melt down." So I get up to find out what this "melt down" was since I hadn't heard Logan crying and a "melt down" in Mom's world has a LOT of crying in it. Once I got into the living room, Brian's standing over the changing table and Logan's as happy as a pig in poop...mainly because he was laying in poop. Dad was letting Logan's butt air out a little (due to the diaper rash) and of course while letting him air out Pee Pants started to pee. So Dad took the diaper and tried to stop the pee from going all over the place, but once he moved the diaper Logan started to poop and this is the magical part, the poop went not just on the changing table but it looped up and landed on Logan's chest and side and even shot out onto the wall. It was actually kind of funny once we got everything cleaned up. We undressed Logan and Dad just took him into the shower with him. So it turned out that Logan got his first shower with Dad this morning (don't worry it was not hot water). Anyways...that's Dad's definition of a "melt down".
Hope all is well with everyone!

ooohh.. poor little poopy butt. i'm glad to hear you got some cream for his tush. have you tried "butt paste"? it's GREAT... but not sure whether it'd help logan's issue or not. worth a shot if you haven't tried it. also, i put powder on layla's bottom every a.m. and p.m. before i put her diaper on and sprinkle a little in her diaper to keep her butt dry which seems to have prevented diaper rashes thus far. sorry to hear about the "melt down". shrek, for future reference, we call those types of "melt downs", "blowouts". i just remembered i never picked up the pee wee thingie that'll help stop the pee from squirting in your face all the time... shoot!
Yes Butt Paste is what the dr recommended too, so I have some of that now. His rash is almost gone now it looks so much better! So we'll try the butt paste then and the powder to see if we can prevent it from coming back.
Man I am too slow I was going to recommend BUTT PASTE. Can i still get a partial point for knowing the answer?
Ok, Jake I'll award +1 to you...you would have gotten +3 if you would have been the first to answer though... :-)
