Life

Life is crazy...and at the same time boring.

That is how I would describe life at the Meyer Ranch right now. It's crazy in that things never seem to settle down, work, grad. school (which I kid myself into thinking it's only one night a week, but then forget about the 4 - 6 hours of homework and reading I have to do.), hunting for Brian, keeping the house from looking like a complete disaster, spending time with Logan, spending time with friends, and trying to squeeze in some QT for me and Brian. But at the same time nothing exciting is happening. This is our life. As the saying goes, "These are the day." And I know it's the same for everyone reading this. This is the time to cherish with Logan while he's young, (although I would really really like it if he'd start sleeping better at night....Brian and I are really getting tired of the "up every 3 - 4 hours" game...)

Anyways I don't have much to say other than not much is going on....but at the same time we're busy...

4 a.m.

Logan decided this morning he would get up at 4 a.m. Normally I can feed him and he'll go back to sleep for another hour or two. Nope not this morning....wide away and every time I would lay him back down he would freak out and start crying. I can just imagine him thinking, "What the heck Mom? It's dark out when I get up at 5:30 normally and it's dark out now. I can't tell time, how am I suppose to know it's 4 a.m. instead of 5:30 a.m.? All I want to do is eat a little something and go play with my toys? What's wrong with that?" He's just a little stinker though, you're extremely tired and go into his room to get him and he's either sitting or standing in his crib just smiling the biggest two tooth smile ever and so excited to see you. You can't be mad or upset with him. All you can do is love him.

So what do you do at 4 a.m. when your son wants to play....work.

UPDATE: I want to note that Brian also get's up with Logan. He was up at 4 a.m. as well, but I sent him back to bed. Then at about 5:15 he came out of the bedroom thinking that I was still trying to get Logan back to sleep not realizing that I was working, and was going to send me back to bed so I could get some sleep. He's so sweet!

6 Months Old

Friday I turned 6 months old. Let me tell you it's been a crazy 6 months! I've learned a lot during my time here. Most importantly:
  • My parents are crazy!
  • My uncles will teach me all kinds of cool things that my mom doesn't want me to know.
  • Don't crawl into the fireplace hearth, it hurts! (Although I haven't mastered this one yet.)
  • Asparagus makes me very gassy!
  • Connor is super cool! And I can make car noises just like he does! (Seriously Logan pushes toys around the floor and makes the car noises just like big "brother" Connor)
  • Being outside is WAY better than being inside
  • My Grandparents will spoil me rotten and let me get away with more than mom and dad.
  • "No" mean I'm not suppose to do something...but I just smile and do it anyways. ;-)
  • My cousin Stella loves me...but I don't like that she's constantly hugging me...
  • I have a lot of people that love me!
One thing that confuses me is, I've finally figured out how to get around by myself and now all of a sudden there are these gates every where. I can finally go check out the things that amaze me, but as soon as I get close to them my Mom locks me up!

I've tried to figure out how to take these barriers down, but they're tough. As you can see below I've tried climbing over them, but I haven't mastered my climbing yet.

If any one has any advice about how to get out of this jail I would really appreciate it! I'll have to ask cousin Stella when she's over next how she deals with these obstacles.

But for now Mom this is what I think of you locking me up! :-)

We're in so much trouble....

I get home from work yesterday and the first thing I always do is run over to Logan and give him a kiss and hug...sometimes I kiss Brian first, I like to mix it up. But yesterday Brian says, "Hey watch this cool trick Mom!" So he puts Logan on the ground in front of the chair and this is what happens next....

Then about 10 min. later I put Logan down in the kitchen so I could run and change for bowling and all of sudden I hear, "Babe get in here quick, you have to see this!" So I run into the kitchen and this is what I see...

We're in so much trouble....

Logan's got A LOT to say!

Here's a taste of Logan babbling away...lately he just never stops talking...geezz I wonder who he gets that from?!? ;-)

[Oh and he farts in the video, that's why we start laughing...but you can't hear the little toot.]

Go Pack Go!

Go Pack Go!! Go Pack Go!!

Well Grandpa and Grandma Steffen started the war on Sunday. They bought Logan his first Packer sweatshirt. Dad didn't really seem to might all that much, but I'm sure it won't be long before Uncle Dan or Daddy buys him his first Viking shirt....the poor kid is going to be so confused...

Jovie and Jaylee's Baptism

Sunday was also Jovie and Jaylee's Baptism. They're so cute! And so little still... but they're definitely growing.

Church went great all the kids did really well. It was the first time we got a picture of the whole family together since the grand kids were born.

Osceola Fair

This weekend was the Osceola Community Fair. It's always a good time with lots of things going on. The truck pull on Friday night, Saturday is Wheels and Wings, an Auto Show at Motorbooks, the 5K run, the Tractor pull, there's the "Tin Building" with booths and the usually fair exhibits displayed. There's a parade on Sunday and of course there's the rides and typical fair foods to enjoy. Saturday Brian took Logan on his first fair ride. Here's some pictures and a video. I don't think he really new what to expect of the whole thing. And to be completely honest with you this ride was nothing compared to some of the rides dad gives him in his car seat or on the 4-wheeler... :-)

5K

Yeah! Sherri, Jody and I ran in the Osceola 5K Fun Run today! We ran the entire time without stopping! It was so much fun and a big accomplishment! I'm sure some of you reading this are thinking, "It's 3.2 miles...what's so big about that." But I'd like to see you do it...and for those of you that run 3.2 miles all the time...watch out we're coming for you! ;-)

Living Life

Life is not a race - but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work hard. Be choosy. Say "thank you", "I love you", and "great job" to someone each day. Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Love your life and what you've been given, it is not accidental - search for your purpose and do it as best you can. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you inspire to be. Laugh often. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming. Forgive, it frees the soul. Take time for yourself - plan for longevity. Recognize the special people you've been blessed to know. Live for today, enjoy the moment.

Great Minnesota Get Together

Some pictures from the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday

I know the picture looks like Logan's on a ride of some kind, but he's just hanging out in his stroller....although that can be a ride in and of itself when mom's pushing it...

Close up!

Mom and me! This is classic Logan...always has to have something in his mouth that he can suck on.

Ok, if you're reading the blog for the first time...Kim is not Logan's mom...but isn't it crazy how much they look alike...even the hair color!

Couldn't get the picture to not be sideways, sorry.

Cheddar and Logan

It was hot that day so we had to take a break...

Logan out for a stroll...

Tee and Shutter

I love his faces!

At the FSN North booth they let you try your hand at being an FSN North anchor. So Kim and I tried it out. I have the video of it, but the practice was way better then the live version so I'm not sure if I'm going to post it...

Naked baby! Logan spit-up on his onesie so we let him hang out in just his diaper for a little bit before we put another one on. It was hot that day.

Picture of the crowds. One of my favorite things to do at the fair is people watch! And there's always plenty of people to watch. This year at the fair the K102 booth had "State Fair Bingo". Some of the things on the bingo card:
-- Guy in cut off jeans
-- Fanny pack
-- Anything NASCAR
-- Spandex
-- Kids on a leash
-- Socks and Sandles
-- Women wearing high heels and shorts
-- Mesh Jersey with no undershirt
-- Mullet
-- Halter top / muffin top combo

We of course got bingo within an hour of being there. Gotta love the State Fair!

Logan attempting to escape from the confines of the stroller...

245

So last night Brian and I went to pick up our new bowling balls. And just as a little background info, bowling is the only "sport" that I've been able to beat Brian at. Now I know we're married and we shouldn't make everything a competition, but have you met my husband? Everything is a competition with him and he hates to lose, we even compete to see who can load the dishwasher better...and of course I always lose. So bowling was my saving grace, the one thing I was better at then him. Didn't matter that we'd go golfing and he'd be better then me, even though I golf almost every week in the summer and he never golfs, I was still a better bowler then him. Doesn't matter that he's a better cook then me, even though I do most of the cooking, I was still a better bowler then him....well sadly the day has come where he does pretty much everything better then me. We bowled a couple practice games last night with our new balls and Brian bowled a 245. COME ON! Are you kidding me...a 245. My high game...a 125! He blew me out of the water. Crap! Brian's so sweet though, he was trying to make me feel better last night about the fact that he does everything better then me and he says, "Babe, you'd kick my butt in a programming contest." Yippie! I'm a better nerd then he is! I know how to develop software! The sad thing is if he knew how to develop software...he's probably do that better then me too....
