I'm so very excited to introduce Meyer Baby 2.0!!!!
The ultrasound went great! The ultrasound tech was so cool. She was joking around with us from the start when we told her that Mom didn't want to know what it was, but that Dad wanted to try and guess. She said, "[chuckle] ok, I'll just let you know when I'm 'down there' so Mom can look away and Dad can look harder". :-) Then when she got close to "down there" she goes, "Ok, I'm getting close, so look if you want or don't look if you want." She was so fun! Brian got a good look and I did not. He thinks he knows, but again is sworn not to say a word to any one. (Although he did call me after the appt. and said, "It's so hard not to tell people what I think it is." We'll see how long he lasts! :-) ) The tech said she knew, so it must have been pretty obvious....we'll see if Brian's right. I think once I go into labor I'm going to have him tell me what he thinks it is, that way he can't change his guess after the baby's out. :-)
Let me back up for a min. I had my regular 20 week appt. before our ultrasound, and for my fellow Mom's out there, you know that at each appt. you need to give a urine sample. You also know that you need to have a full bladder for your ultrasound appt. So I drank the 32 oz. of water an hour before the ultrasound and headed in for my regular dr. appt., informing the nurse that I'd be able to give a sample after the ultrasound. By the time the dr. came in for my regular appt. I was ready to pee, but still holding ok. I got up on the table so the dr. could hear the baby's heart tones and for some reason she couldn't find them. I wasn't worried at all, since we stopped and just watched my stomach for a min and you could see the little alien inside of me moving around. The baby was just kicking away, but in a weird position and we couldn't find the heart tones. She finally found them, after a little poking around to get the baby to move. At this point (after the poking and laying flat) I really had to pee, but still thought I can make it to the ultrasound which we were already 3 min late for. So I'm thinking "Yes, we'll get there and they'll be ready for us! We'll walk right in and I'll be able to go to the bathroom in no time." WRONG!! We waited for another 10 mins once we got to the ultrasound area and by that time I had to pee so bad I could barely walk and had tears in my eyes from holding it. Brian was laughing of course, saying,
Brian: "You really have to pee that bad?"
Tee: "Yes, caveman I do! How would you like a tiny alien poking you in your bladder when you're about ready to burst with urine? Now back off!"
I finally went up there to ask the receptionist how long it would be. (On top of my bursting with urine, Brian had to be back at school in 20 mins.) She took one look at me and said, I'll call the girl and we'll get you in. :-) Thank you!
So the tech comes out and we go back to the room. Again she was super nice and I wasn't upset with her at all. She said right away, we'll take a few pictures and then let you go to the restroom so you can enjoy the rest of the ultrasound. But as soon as she placed the wand on my bloated stomach, she goes, "Wow, you're bladder really is full!" What?!?! No way!?!!? Is that what this blinding pain is?? The need to urinate?!?!?
Anyways, after that everything went perfect and I was a much much happier camper. And when the tech placed the wand on my stomach again, Baby Meyer had completely flipped around. He/She was just so squished in there with all that urine. Poor thing! The baby was moving around like crazy during the entire exam. The tech had to change positions a number of times to get the right pictures, etc. cause he/she would just keep moving. It was so fun to watch. They were even opening and closing their mouth! Too cute!! We're going to have another active one on our hands lady's and gentlemen!! :-)
Logan came to the appt. and just sat on Daddy's lap the entire time. He was smiling and laughing when we heard the heart tones in the ultrasound. (Heart tones were about 150 with the Dr. and 146 with the ultrasound tech.) He's going to be such a great big brother to little baby Meyer 2.0!
Speaking of Baby Meyer 2.0....I need your help!!! When Logan was just a fetus, we had the adorable and endearing nickname of "Cletus the Fetus"...but for Baby Meyer 2.0, we've been unable to come up with a fetus nickname. Please post your recommendations for a fetus nickname. While Baby Meyer 2.0 is unique, it's just not as adorable or endearing as another name would be. I would really really appreciate your suggestions! We can't just call this baby Baby Meyer 2.0 for another 5 months!
