Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I'll start off by saying that on Wednesday Brian did not get two deer and therefore owes me a date. Although I might have blown it already. He came int he house at 5:15 and told me he didn't get any deer that day. I responded with a joyous, "I WIN!" and he quickly changed the subject by saying, "Do you want to bowl in a 9-pin no tap tournament tonight at 6? We need to be there by 5:30." Nothing like waiting until the last minute. But I said sure, so we headed to the bowling alley. It was fun, but Brian paid for me to enter and I'm worried that he's thinking that's the date. While it was fun I'd like to do something a little different than drinking beer with friends in a smoke filled bowling alley. Although Brian did get 3rd place in the tournament. He bowled a 297 his third game...he choked on the last ball...too much pressure maybe?
I hope everyone got their fill of turkey and mash potatoes yesterday! We sure did over at Grandpa and Grandma Steffen's house. Logan just kept eating and eating. He really likes jello and cool whip...thanks Grandma. :-) It was a very relaxing day hanging out with the family. Logan and I headed over to my mom and dad's house at about 9. I called Brian at about 9:45 and asked him to bring something we forgot. He was just heading into the house from the tree stand and sounded very disappointed that he still hadn't seen anything. Then about 10 minutes later he calls me back. "I just shot a 10-pointer!" He was walking across the field and was probably 100 yards from our house when this deer came bolting our of our woods at full tilt. He had to wait until it cleared the house before he could shoot it and he shot it at full throttle! Yeah! He felt a lot better after that. It's a smaller 10-pointer, but still a nice deer. Nice job babe!
The rest of the weekend we don't have a lot planned. Saturday night we're going to the movies. I might take Logan with me, I'm still not sure yet. Maybe if I stood in the back and was able to stand up with him....I don't know...we'll see...
Here's a few pics from yesterday.
Passed out with a turkey hangover...

My brother Mitchell brought his and Jamie's cat home for the weekend. Logan LOVED Moose! He would chase him around the house trying to pet him. Moose didn't like Logan. Logan punched him in the eye and pulled his hair. I can't blame Moose for not liking him. But it was so cute to see Logan get excited every time Moose came around.

Deer Opener Defeat
The Deer Opener this year was +1 for the deer. The Meyer boys didn't have great success. Mikey got a doe opening morning (practically standing in our shed) but other than that nothing. Brian's really struggling with the fact that he's not seeing any deer. He's put so much time and effort into scouting and preparing and not seeing anything is frustrating him. I can't really blame him. I wouldn't want to put in all the time and energy into hunting including sitting in a tree stand freezing my butt off and not see anything. Which is why I've decided to stop hunting for a while. I haven't really hunted for a couple years anyways, but now I'm going to stop pretending that I will get out of bed at 5:00 a.m. and go sit in the cold. I started hunting mostly to hang out with my Dad and spend time with him, but the last couple of years we've been so busy and my Dad hunts up north now so it's just become one of those things that makes me feel guilty. Kind of like working out, dieting, or even blogging for some people. You feel like you should be doing it, but when you think about actually doing it you just don't feel like it or want to which makes you feel guilty. Sometime the best thing to do in these situations is just admit that you're not going to do it anymore and be done with it. Why add more stress to our lives than we need to right? Anyways, I've hung up my blaze orange and camo for the time being. I might start again when Logan is old enough to hunt. But only time will tell.
Saturday night we went to a wine tasting, which unfortunately wasn't as good as last years wine tasting, but still a good time. Then we headed to Sue's (formerly known as Sister's) for the annual Deer Hunting Opener party. They had karaoke so of course I was in heaven! I finally got to sing karaoke to my favorite song, "All I Want To Do" by Sugarland. And of course I had to sing "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey for my good friend Jody! As you can about imagine she really had to twist my arm. :-) Shutterbug was in full swing at Sue's so I'll try to steal some pictures from her and post soon. Cheddar babysat for us and did a fantastic job! Thank you so much Heather! We love you!
Very excited it's a short week of work and that Thursday is Thanksgiving! My sister is coming home from NYC on Wednesday! We're very excited for this. She hasn't been home since May and we can't wait to see her!

Home Sweet Home
I made it home from Erie PA on Tuesday night. Tuesday morning I woke up and was super sick. I haven't felt this sick in years! I attribute it to the flu shot I got last Tuesday although I can't be 100% sure. Anyways, Brian called Tuesday morning and said Logan wasn't feeling well either and fell off the bed so he was staying home with him. We finished up the install at the customer site at 2 on Tuesday so I caught an flight out of Erie at 7 p.m. and was home by 11 p.m. I stayed home from work today because I literally thought I was going to die this morning when I woke up. I felt like crap. I feel better now, still not 100%, but definitely better. I'm glad I don't have any immediate travel plans for work again.
Today is Logan's 8 month birthday! He's really getting good at saying "Mum, Mum, Mum". He's been saying it a lot lately. The poor kid hasn't been feeling well though and has a horrible diaper rash. So we've been letting him hang around the house with no diaper on giving him time to air out. It's pretty funny to watch him crawl around and play with no diaper on. Little cute butt!
Last night he crawled over to the gate in the entry way where the dogs lay and was just talking away to them. After a while I look over and I see him climbing up the gate trying to get over it. It was so funny. I took this picture about 6 seconds before he started screaming. The gate hurts his feet when he shoves them through the holes. We've got to watch him now he's been trying to climb on everything lately. Little stinker!

Detroit is nice!
I'm stuck in Detroit. Erie PA got 12 inches of snow yesterday and are getting 10 more today and more yet tomorrow. My flight got canceled at 12:30 a.m. last night and we got to the hotel room at about 1:30 a.m. My flight was suppose to leave at 10:45 this morning, but is delayed again to 11:30 and they don't know if we'll be able to take off than either...The flight to Erie that was suppose to leave at 8:40 this morning left at about 9:45, so that's at least a good sign. Now I think we're just waiting for a plane, but I'm not sure. I'm just worried we'll be able to get there some time today, but won't be able to get home on Wednesday.
Airports suck!

Logan and Elizabeth
This weekend was a real treat! Angie and Elizabeth Jacobs came to stay for the weekend. Logan and Elizabeth were born 9 days apart. She is so cute! It was so good to see you guys and hang out for a while. I hope you had a safe trip back and we'll have to get together again soon! Love ya!
In this picture Elizabeth was playing nicely on the floor and the bully Logan comes up and sits right in her lap and starts playing. She didn't see to mind too much though.

Standing
Last night Logan stood all by himself for 45 sec. It might not seem like a long time, but it is! Good job buddy! :-)

Socks
For some reason Logan LOVES his socks! You can see in the pictures here he loves to carry them around and wave them back and forth. I have no idea why, but he likes them. He must get that from his father...
Last week Kenny, Tara and Addison Shoquist came over for dinner. It was the first time Logan and Addison had met. I know he's 8 months old...don't ask us why it took so long to get together. But it was great hanging out with you guys! We'll have to do it again soon!
Now that it's getting colder out we let the dogs into the house at night. But you can see from the picture below they have to stay in the laundry/entry area. The gates server a dual purpose now, keep the dogs out and Logan in. Logan just loves to watch them now though, he's still sort of afraid of them and I can't really blame him. Bo is almost 85 lbs and Ruger isn't far behind. Tank is just as his name implies...a TANK. He's already almost as big as Ruger and he's not even a year old yet. So when all three of them get together in a little space they can be very intimidating...especially to an 8 month old.
The other thing that Logan figured out that's super funny is that if you go by the stairs or in the guest bathroom you can hear your echo. He'll crawl over to them (or by our bathtub in our bathroom) and stand there and scream and shout things just to hear this echo. I know he's doing it to hear himself cause if you take him away from those places he stops yelling. But as soon as he's by them again he'll start screaming. Not bad screaming, it's more like a "Hey!" "Echo" "Yeah!" Still it's funny to watch him.
This is a video of him crawling around the kitchen. He knows that the tuberware is in this cabinet and he loves to play with the covers and containers. I don't really mind, they're easy to pick up and it keeps him occupied while I make dinner or clean up a little. He's getting closer and closer to standing by himself. He's getting braver when he reaches for things and will very loosely hang on when he's walking along the cupboards in the kitchen. Brian's betting he'll be walking by Christmas...mom's not so sure. It's not that I don't have faith in him or anything, I'm just not sure he'll be ready. But maybe...only time will tell...
Oh and while I was blogging Brian came up and tackled me...so we were playing on the floor with Logan and took some family pictures...what do you think? See one we could use for our Christmas card? :-)

Embarrassing Photo?
Ok, because April asked so nicely I won't post a totally embarrassing photo of her. This is as close as I will get. Is this really embarrassing? This is from my bachelorette party, needless to say we were completely wasted. Oh to be young and foolish again...right Apes?
I'll post new photo's of Logan and maybe a few video's on Wednesday night...tomorrow night is grad. school so I'm sure I won't do it when I get home.
Happy Birthday April!
Happy Birthday (Belated by one day) April!

Deer Hunting Challenge
Conversation between Brian and I last night on the way home from bowling...
Brian: I'm so frustrated with the weather and bow hunting! I NEED to get a buck!
Theresa: Why because your family needs more meat?
Brian: No. If you want more meat, babe, I could get a doe any time I want.
Theresa: Really? You're very cocky, if only we could all be so confident. We do need more meat if we're going to make it to next deer hunting season.
Brian: Babe, seriously, you pick the day and I'll get a doe for you.
Theresa: Ok, Sunday Nov. 9th.
Brian: Ok. [after a min. pause] Wait, I'm not shooting a doe in the middle of the rut.
Theresa: Awha, I knew you couldn't do it.
Brian: I'm not saying that, I just don't want to do it in the middle of the rut.
Theresa: Fine, then the Wednesday of gun season. Nov. 26th.
Brian: Deal. Haha, that's not even a challenge, I get to use my rifle. Hell, I'll even get you two does that day.
Theresa: Ok, let's put a little wager on this.
Brian: Deal, loser has to buy dinner and a date night.
Theresa: Deal two does on Nov. 26th! Not before, but ON Nov. 26th. [hand shake]
Just wanted to let everyone know how confident my husband is in his hunting abilities this year. Also so I can brag when I win! The funny part is either way I win. I either get more meat in my freezer and don't have to buy it AND get to spend a night with my husband (even though I have to buy, but it will be worth it) or I just get a night with my husband and he gets to buy!
Oh and I can't tell you how excited I am it's election day! Not for the reasons you think, but so the cut-throat smear campaign between Norm Coleman and Al Franken has finally come to an end! Thank GOD!

Merry Christmas?
KQQL 107.9 a radio station in the cities is playing Christmas music already! When I turned it on this morning the Christmas song that was playing was "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas". It's suppose to be 72 degrees here in the Twin Cities today, that doesn't sound like Christmas to me. Plus it's November 3rd. Shouldn't we exhaust the "Happy Thanksgiving" greeting before we start on "Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays"? Don't get me wrong I LOVE Christmas music and begin listening to it exclusively from end of November straight through the holidays, but this is even too early for me!
So I guess Merry Christmas everyone! :-)
